Vortex KC1 is tiny but is it bright? Spot or flood beam? Runtime? The finish does not look like HA II or HA III.

Vortex KC1 specs:

A larger keychain light, the KC1, was also introduced. The water and shock resistant machined aluminum body is anodized inside and out to provide maximum protection for the 1 watt Luxeon Star LED housed inside. A shatterproof polycarbonate lens protects collimator optics to provide a smooth prefocused beam at 35 lumens. The KC1 is powered by a single 123A lithium battery to provide a run time of about two hours. This little powerhouse measures 60mm long and weighs 70g with the battery. KC1 sells for $57.

Surefireparts on eBay has them for pretty cheap. And PoliceGearUSA.com has them listed for $33.24 but I've NEVER seen them in stock.

It has an optic so I think it's somewhat of a spot or spot with flood but not a pure flood light. I think the finish on Vortex lights has been criticized in the past plus they say the KC1 is HA III (there is no such thing as HA II, by the way) but this does not seem to be true as it is reflective and HA III is always matte as far as I know.

I also think it runs on a single CR2, not a CR123.

I used to be eagerly awaiting them getting in stock based on the general idea and the reivew over on FlashlightReviews but while I was waiting, I got a good deal on a LED_ASAP modded ARC AAA.

Anybody know what the real runtime for this light is? The advertised runtime on www.flashlightreviews.com is about 2hrs on 1xCR2 cell. The total output is listed just a little lower than the Streamlight Jr. Lux which has been measured at 1.5hrs regulated runtime on 2xAA cells. Do the CR2 cells really supply that much energy?

I like it .....almost the same size as an ARC LS with 123 twisty.....and much brighter....very solid built....good throw and flood...havnt done run times........runs fairly cool for longer runs of at least 5 min....highly recomended as a inexpensive pocket light.

I have CR123 batteries but I seldom run across CR2 batteries. I will pass on this light since CR2 batteries are hard to find. I don't want to carry so many different types of batteries.

How does the KC1 compare to a Nuwaii Q3?

i have one, but i never use it! it sits on my dresser. partcially because its to large to put on my keys, and is kinda bulky, but then i carry an L2 or Q-3, so, its a nice light for what it is. if you feel you'll have use, then its a good light. its pretty white actully, and pretty sweet.

It's bright, but it's the same size as an arc-ls even though it uses a cr2,so the smaller battery doesn't mean much. The other thing is that the finish is VERY easily scratched.

>Hurrah for CR123 Vortex KC1.

I called vortex it will take over a month to arrive. The cr2 version should be here in a few weeks.

So advancemart, will there be a cr2 and a 123? kinda liked the idea of a cr2. and if you possably know, when they say "modified" does that mean the size didn't change? (length width) thanks. VDG

P.S. I hope endevour's CR2 ion comes soon, i still want tiny CR2 light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/au.gif VDG

For anyone interested in the light but unsure of the CR2 battery costs, batterystation.com has CR2s for only $1.25 each on the cpf page.

The guy over at the Vortex website emailed me a couple days ago and said the CR123 KC1 wouldn't be available for at least 60 days.
