Back in January of 2007 I recieved 44 Titanium Brand CR123A batteries, at a cost of $1.00 each, from Battery Junction. I had just became a flashoholic and bought a lot of LED flashlights including Fenix, Surefire, and others. After reading that the CR123A batteries have a shelf life of ten years or more I decided to stock up in the event of another hurricane or other disaster. My EDC is a Fenix LOD CE so I rarely used the bigger lights with the CR123As. Tonight I needed to go in the dark to check my water pump so I grabbed my Surefire L4. I turned it on and it was very dim. The last time I tried it, it was bright with the Titanium brand batteries. I put in two unused Titanium batteries and the Surefire was just as dim. I tried 10 more unused Titanium batteries and they were all dim. Then I tried 2 Duracell and they were bright. I tried 2 Surefire and they were bright. I bought all of these batteries in January of 2007. When I bought the cheap Titanium brand batteries from Battery Junction I thought it sounded too good to be true at a price that cheap of $1.00 each. The Titanium brand worked well for a while but it is obvious the shelf life is not up to par and certainly not ten years. I am reminded of the old saying you get what you pay for. So, if you are thinking about stockpiling Titanium Brand batteries to have in an emergency for the next ten yours or so.......DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
