I am just wondering, do you guys polish your Titanium flashlight or you just leave it with wear marks? Can someone also educate me why Titanium flashlights are in chrome instead of matted gray?

Titanium is actually a bright metal. A lot of colors are called Titanium Grey or whatever for marketing exercise..

Ditto with carrot and nbp on the wear marks.

I've seen Ti lights that have been polished to be shiny, more of a satin, then what's commonly called "titanium grey" as Uncle George described it. From what I've seen the majority are satin, that's the finish right after it's been machined. Of course it's still possible to polish it up to something much shiner or blast it to make it duller, but I like the satin finish. IMHO, shiny just makes it look tacky.

All my Ti lights have a brushed finish and if they don't I give them one (even the shelf queens).

I clean up hazy areas or give them the brushed finish by gently turning the light in my hands against a piece of 000 steel wool or a scotchbrite pad.

Other than that the big scratches and dings are just the character marks and good memories of a light well enjoyed. :grin2:
