sorry double post

I just got my TK10 and so far am likeing it. Very solid feel, looks great, and has nice throw. It still is a bit embarresing thow how close the LODq4 on 10440's matches it in medium range. Anyway my question is this.

I'll be showing my bud the light in a few days and he's got quite a few surfires. What is he gonna pull out that will match or beat my tk10? We will prob be in his back lawn drinkin a few brews, spotting some trees 100yds or so.

Im assuming any SF that has around 120 lumens or more will either come close to matching it or (in the case of higher lamps) beat it outright. Maybe not the 105, 120 lumen ones (P61, P90) but the M3, M4 and M6 with their high output assemblies should beat it handily.

For the same size, if he has good LED drop-ins, then they should at least be similar to the T10 in output.

If not, then he probably won't be able to beat the T10(output wise) with anything of similar size.

If he manages a Surefire with 200-500 lumens you maybe in trouble, but if he's up to it, see who wins after 30 minutes of run time without changing batteries. :p

Many of the SF's in the 200-500 lumen range will only run at that level for 20 minutes, and use up a lot of CR123's in the process, while the TK10 will continue at 200 lumens (225 lumens according to Fenix), for 1.5 hours on TWO CR123's. :)

Depends what he has, there are some out there that are brighter... Also depends if modded...

[Hopefully] Related Question

I admit that I haven't trolled through a pile of threads for this. Otoh, I'm expecting a pretty straightforward response...so I beg your forgiveness in advance.

I have no particular loyalty to a given line, and -- for my next belt-riding LED light -- am looking for significant distance in the $120 -ish range.

I have been watching the LEDLENSERHP site in semi-eager anticipation of their release of the P7 and P14 for retail purchase. I am basing this mainly on their claims of 711' and 961' throws. However, it has been suggested to me that the Tiablo A9 will deliver about the same bang for the buck, and is available right now. I realize there are "killer" throw units in existence, but not for $120.

Fwiw, I'd prefer to stick with CR123A's, and if the same unit accepts RCR's as well...and/or 18650's...so much the better. However, these batteries are not the ironclad pivotal issue. I'd just prefer not to have 5 lights hanging around that use 4 different battery styles!

May I have a couple of opinions, please & thank you?

Stock, only surefire C3s and up will beat it for total output. but Watch out,for all you know he may have a malkoff...

IF his incan is beating you, just mention your tk10 runtime....

Thanks for the link! I apologize for hijacking the thread; I should've lurked around a bit longer, and perhaps started a thread of my own. In any case, clearly I've come to the right place! (Now...to learn yet another new lingo!) :grin2:
