Re: WTS: TK61vn - Throw King Alternative

I'm curious about the depth of the reflector vs the K50 reflector depth.

Re: WTS: TK61vn - Throw King Alternative

The TK61 has a wider reflector, though I'm not sure on depth? If it's the same, and can be driven about the same, they would be about equal. Also imo fenix is of a higher quality. That and it's compatible with the extension carriers I already have. So even if it loses out to the k50 by 5-10% for me the tk61 would be the winner.

Let's see what Vinh posts.

Re: WTS: TK61vn - Throw King Alternative

So far here is what I got:
  • TK61vn throw better than a TK50vn at about the same margin that the TK50vn does better than the TN31vn. (Judging visually)
  • TK61vn is noticeably larger in all dimensions compared to a K50vn
  • K50vn reflector is made of Aluminum, TK61vn reflector is made of plastic. (Not sure how the plastic reflector will hold up to heat over time)
  • K50vn has a UI I prefer more. Momentary clicky allow momentary on and power cut off with no parasitic drained. K50vn has rotary ring with convenient standby so light can be poop off at the head also.
  • K50vn has a circular copper heat sink design that distribute heat better than the semi-half circle in the TK61vn.
  • K50vn mass is focused at the head with large fins where the heat is. TK61 has more mass at the handle with little fins at the head to cool the light.
  • TK61vn has a nice stainless steel bezel that the K50vn doesn't.
  • K50vn has a convenient magnetic charging port
  • K50vn rubber switches can b easily replaced if torn
  • TK61vn rubber switches are hard to replace for many reasons if torn. (Has been torn before)
  • K50vn has a better beam profile on a while wall
  • TK61vn has a larger and brighter hot spot with relatively dimmer spill
  • K50vn has more range of modes including moonlight
  • TK61vn has a low mode that is about 20-30 lumen.
  • K50vn appears to be a bit brighter overall
  • TK61vn is a higher quality light compared to a K50vn but not by much

So which one do I like more…I honestly think I prefer the K50vn a little more due to beam profile, smaller size, better heat sinking design, more ranges of modes and a lower price. UI wise I think both is a tie in my book. I like the TK61vn too don't get me wrong. I am keeping one of each for myself for sure.

To me the best lights are still the K40vn and the TK75vn. They aren't king of anything but probably the King of balance. The TK61vn is now the new Throw King

Beamshots up ASAP

Interesting. Have some thinking to do if I want both... What's the final tk61 price?

Are any k50vn spot open?

And when can we reserve tk61vn?

Wow! Super evaluation!

Thanks Vinh. I'm already in for the K50vn, so I will just "hold."

At this point I think u are better off choosing the light you personally prefer.. K40 k50 tn31 or tk61... All are great throwers and unique :)

Re: WTS: TK61vn - Throw King Alternative

I regret selling my tn31 even if k50 is better in every way. Just bc it was a fun light. Maybe I'll get one again in the future again.

I'm guesstimating that this will get about 50k more lux than the K50.

Vihn said: The TK61vn is now the new Throw King

Would I be correct that this is based STRICTLY on a visual perspective?
