TL-3 mod?

I got my father a Tl-3 a while back, and was wondering if there were any new lamps or easy mods that I could do to it to brighten it up. Thanks in advance.

There have been special runs of halogen filled Carley 1499's which are a major upgrade, I'm not sure the standard Carley 1499 is brighter or not though, I forget.

It won't make it any brighter but you could run it on 2x Li-ion rechargeable batteries for some "guilt free lumens".
