I just ordered a Surefire E1L. With a McE2S, this will be my new EDC, replacing my Arc LSH. Which creates a dilemma....

I don't need two such similar lights. So I'm considering selling the Arc. The proceeds will certainly come in handy, and I won't have to worry about a collector's item falling out of my pocket somewhere.

On the other hand, the LS was my first good flashlight. I will never forget the first time I turned it on in the darkness. I feel a little excitement every time I first light up a new light, but it's never been as good as the first time.

What to do, what to do....?

I have a difficult time getting rid of things that I like. For some people it's very easy - out with the old and in with the new.

My ARCs have sentimental value to me as well as being practical tools. In this case, with your LS, I would recommend keeping it. There's been considerable discussion here on CPF that there just isn't a replacement for the LS. There are more and less sophisticated lights, but not the same size and utility as the LS. They are simple and bullet proof and easy to upgrade if you want to take advantage of the newer, brighter luxeons.

think it was Frenchy that posted this advice.

"Sell your best lights as they will all be surpassed by newer technology. But keep the lights with sentimental value to you."

NO WAY I'm parting with my first real EDC, which is an old beat-up hand me down LSH-P /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

An ARC LS was my first light. But then I sold it (at a loss too, way back then... hehe). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif At least I know it played host for a mod.

What will make you happier? If you are happier with the light (even though you don't need[?] it), then keep it. If you're happier with the money, then sell it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been tempted to sell my ls mod to purchase one of those nice aleph lights... I just can't get myself to do it. I know I'd have sellers remorse for a long long time.

Remember you can always decide to sell it later. (of course the price you get may be lower.) But once it's gone, it's gone. I plan on keeping my Arc's no matter how outdated they will eventually become. To me it's a fine example of an American made product that was king of the hill in it's class, and many feel it still is.
