I started in EMS at 15 years old, in 1979 and the Fire Service in 1980, at 16 years old

I became a state certified EMT in 1981

1983 received my NREMT-A (Basic EMT - National Cert)

1984 my NREMT-P (Paramedic - National Cert)

It all seems like yesterday, I'm not sure where all the time has gone...........

That's awesome! Congratulations! I only started EMS in 2008 and have seen so many changes to protocols and treatments. I can only imagine what it was like when you started compared to now.

Well once you decide what you REALLY want to do for a living...... go ahead and start but until then there's an old saying where I come from:

You oughta get a job doing that 'cause you're pretty good at it.

Thank you, I appreciate that!

As my mother would have told you (and she told everyone LOL) when I was 7 y/o and Emergency! came to TV, I turned to her and told her "That is what I'm going to do"

She loved telling that story!

That was a great tv show.

Unfortunately what got me motivated at 7 was watching Evel Kneivel jump over a bunch of busses on a motorcycle. My mom used to say "as much money as we've paid this orthopedic doctor you'd think he'd have more comfortable waiting room furniture".

As the old saying goes; "Time flies when you're having fun". I wouldn't trade one day of my career (although there are some hours and minutes I wouldn't mind getting rid of:sneaky:). Congratulations!
