Just got into the P60 LED drop-in arena and am very impressed.

For now I just have one, nailbender's XML 90+CRI 3200K and love the power and incan like tint.

Curious to see what others favorite P60 LED drop-ins are, so what's your top 3?

My own self-made dropins:twothumbs. If I had to choose only three...
XP-G2 R5 3C @ 1.9A with Solarforce SMO reflector (general purpose)
XR-E Q5 @ 1.5A with SMO reflector (throw)
XM-L T4 4k @ 2.8A with OP reflector (beautiful neutral flood)

Just like Lilkevin, I like my own custom made drop-in. I managed to run a customer's solarforce at 2.8a on an XM-L U2 for over an hour with no problems. The key in mines is that the pill is in contact with the bezel and it leaks down about 5mm into the tube. It is an air-tight fit that requires some force to push it in and some strength to pull it out.

Just wondering how hard can I push an XP-G2 in the same setup.

One more nod to Malkoff. M61W, M31W, M61 219. Although I would like to get my hands on a M60W.

  1. Moddoo Triple 3-level 'neutral' 1100
  2. Malkoff M91N (5000K, one of two known M91N's)
  3. Malkoff M31W (5000K 'first-run')

My two other high-end LED modules are direct-drive units, so they aren't nearly as handy as modules that can take two LiIons.

So Malkoff is more popular than I thought and only one triple mentioned, hmm.

Anyone have an XPG2 w/ optic?

M60NF, M60WF, and Torchlabs H3N 219. Huge fan of Malkoff and Torchlabs/Oveready.

Nailbender's XM-L P60 - stupid bright, decent battery life, good throw for the LED's die size.
Malkoff M60 - underpowered compared to today's dropins, but still very good.
Oveready V3 triple XP-G - a bit impractical, but extremely bright and very well made.
