Toronto/GTA gathering of Flashaholics Aug 29th

Hi All,

It was suggested in another thread that a get-together would be a good idea, so I thought I'd start the thread to gauge the interest of such a gathering.

I have no idea of when or where, but Doug mentioned summer, so let's narrow the when part to between June and August.

So, please sound off. If you have a suggestion, don't be afraid to voice it!

I would be interested. I only have 2 ARCs right now (I am waiting on my VIP) but I would like to meet other, more knowledgeable flashoholics.

I know that red_robbie is another Toronto CPF'er (did a trade with him), and I'm sure there ar a couple of other ones as well. I'm sure we would also be happy to see some of the CPF'ers from the bordering US states, too, if they wanted to come up (d'mo?).

I would prefer June, as the summer weekends do get filled up with other stuff...

I was thinking a big park would be good to use (big place to test big lights), but if we did, it would be a good idea to let the local constabulary know what we're doing, so if someone phones in a panic, they can be reassured we're harmless... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I would prefer June also. For anyone south of the border, the "Breeze" will be sailing very soon to Toronto from Rochester ( http://www.portofrochester.com/FastFerry.htm ).

I'll try to check out Centennial Park after dark in the next week or so. I haven't been there at night, so I don't know how much light pollution there is.

How about using a gym or an old movie theatre? Guaranteed darkness with the lights off, usable night or day. Close to the subway would work for everyone. The screen in the movie theatre would be ideal for comparing lights. Later, you could order in pizza.

Just checked this out, it's July 7th. Has this event happened already.

Also, Centennial Park is dark as hell in the soccer fields in front of the stadium when the lights go out. I work there quite often.

The event never really got off the ground, maybe something can be set up for late summer/early autumn?

Let's get some dates out there, I'm out of town the 15th to the 23rd, so maybe the weekend of the 28th?

Maybe a post with your date preferences as a starting point.

I'm away the same week as wasabe64, and I have a commitment the 28th, but the 29th (Sunday evening) is OK for me. How about then? Centennial Park sounds fine by me. Where in the park? I've not been there, but I will find my way around.
