I need a single AA light with clip for positioning on my hat for hands-free work. any recommendations?

The Terralux AAA comes complete with a bundle.

Model TLF-1N1AAA

- Electronically regulated for constant light output
- Comes with 1AAA alkaline battery, spring clip, head band, and attached pocket clip
- Twist On/Off or press to flash
- Water resistant
- Aircraft Grade Aluminum is strong and lightweight
- Small enough to fit key ring
- Only 3 inches long - but hugely useful!

Definitely the Maratac AA. The clip is reversible. The iTp is the same and its cheaper but it doesn't have a groove to reverse the clip.

I would go for a soft clicky so it's easy to turn off and on. Forgot to grab my EOS headlamp on a night fishing adventure a few weeks ago but the 1aa Energizer Cree I had in the truck worked awesome. The clip on the Energizer is really strong and did not move around on my ballcap at all.

+1 on the maratac, the clip is the best I've seen. allows for deep pocket carry and really stiff.

Just my 2 cents. These are all awesome lil lights. I want to recommed the River Rock 0.5 watt 2 x AAA (TM-311H) light made by Nuwai rebranded as RR they use to sell at Target. I just saw that there is also a 1 x AAA made by Nuwai (TM-310H) it looks exactly like the Terralux TLF-1N1AAA Mcnair recommended I wonder if its a Nuwai rebranded as a Terralux but 1 watt and in green color which sounds like a deal with the attached pocket clip, spring clip and headband available at Battery Junction. Here is my RR 2xAAA on my work hat. Very useful when I dont want to blow my cover trying to use my 6P M60 to read a VIN number.

The problem with using a flashlight as headlamp is you can't adjust the angle of the light. It's fine if you hold the work up at eye level, or bend your neck or your back to shine the light where the work is.

May I suggest something like the Zebralight H501 which uses an AA battery? You can attach it to the hat easily like this. The beam can be directed at the work without bending your head, neck, or back.

+1 What davidt1 says you would be much better off with a headlamp, the H501 is very small and weighs very little. When your not using it just put it in a pocket. Their is also the H51 model that is suppose to be released soon that uses a reflector for more throw. The 501 is a pure flood beam which may or may not be suited for you.

I agree. The Quark AA-T is a wonderful light and the clip would clamp down on a hat nicely but he'd probably be better off with one of the really compact AA twist based lights.

I'd say a Fenix MC10. It can easily be attached to a headband with its clip, if necessary.

excellent suggestion . . . I love being a flashaholic just so much to choose from when it's time to hit the paypal button!

i've been searching for reviews on the zebralight just to get an idea of problems associated with it, etc. also, smaller is better it seems when wearing a light on a hat. I'd really like to run a Mini AA from 4sevens but not sure if I can find a durable clip for it.

have you looked at the regular quark (not mini) which comes with a reversible clip?
