Being in the UK the whole election isn't something that directly affects me - but it's been news for a few weeks now.

But I have noticed that all news outlets have been putting down Trump and pretty much saying it's not worth him even running.

We've had articles about how the Trump assassination attempt was likely staged, how he's a threat to democracy and referring to anyone who votes for him as 'Trump supporters' as if they are a small group of oddballs that are of no consequence.

Now he's been elected it's still not stopped. He's now 'convicted felon President Donald Trump'.

I think the media needs to do much better. If he can help bring the wars to a close then that would be something worth supporting at least.

Perhaps that's what reporting is these days but I find it way off what I want to hear. And they were way off with their predictions too.

What's happening to the news? I don't remember it this off track and biased before!

It's been decades that the media hasn't been "leftist". Don't ask me how or why, but here we are.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s in the US and remember a large part of the population not wanting either side. I'd have to write a book to even try to explain and I'd still miss a lot of it.

All I can say is that I have learned not to listen to any mainstream media outlets. NONE. There are plenty of news outlets that are not politically driven. If they want to talk about it, they make it clear that it is an op-ed. (opinion based editorial)

I assume that it's like this across the globe. The media has two jobs in their eyes. 1- make money. 2- make more money.
who is going to help make them money?

That was a rhetorical Q. LOL

The prior two elections, the media made a big deal about the popular vote (compared to the Electoral College & its votes), and the various benefits of it having more relevance.

This time around, all the articles that I've seen, "crickets"; I have not seen even one mention of the popular vote aspect of the current election. Any guesses as to why.

Edit:
And the CNN news feed today - https://lite.cnn.com/ - cited only two races besides the presidential one:
Democrat Elissa Slotkin, Senate seat;
Democrat Tammy Baldwin, Senate seat:

An odd choice, considering how many Senate & House seats were decided, including at least three Senate seats that flipped to Republican that I can see. An odd choice of news topics indeed.

Growing up (in Australia) I always loved the programming of the ABC (tax payer funded broadcaster). It was full of fantastic stuff both from Australia and Great Britain. Apart from its general programming, its news was highly respectable and well regarded.
These days it's a disgusting mess of politically biased nonsense, completely unrecognisable to its former glory.
Left wing authoritarianism and general madness rule the way here for the most part, but sure enough there's already signs of the wheels falling off so we may see common sense return en vogue.

Congratulations to President Trump. I wish all the best to the American people, I'm certain that things should at least improve somewhat.
No pun intended but I reckon you guys dodged a bullet by not getting Harris and her band of crazies.

US politics is always entertaining to say the least, it's just a damn shame so many people are effected by the poor choices, policies and decisions of so many who are primarily concerned with retaining their political entitlements first and foremost.
Doesn't sound any different to Australia for the most part.

Yes even jeremy clarkson has an issue with him. And I one of the biggest supporter of his shows. Not sure why he has a problem with trump but it seems like he does.

Because the network that pays him millions told him to. Look at Hollywood, majority of them are on TDS wagon, making idiots of themselves spewing trash about him. well, their influence just collapsed.

A bullet usually only kills one person.

Hi,

Yes, I noticed the mocking of Trump already, less than one day after the results of the election.
It seems that might be what fueled the election this cycle. If the mainstream media is mocking out someone, that someone must be doing something right, as the media has no sense of right and wrong anymore.
It's a damn shame that the media is part of what is ruining America for everyone.

Next comes the "impeachments" which will probably crop up now and then as the opposing side tries to boot him out of office.

The thing that really bothered me the most is when social media banned his account. Imagine that, banning a sitting US President from some place or activity. That's completely unheard of and what I consider an act of treason. I would also say that of any president not just him, on EITHER side of the isle. It is treason plain and simple. It should have been delt with accordingly at the time.

The main issue now I think is the war in the Ukraine. I think he's the only one that can do anything about that, if it is possible to do something about it. Kamalie would have not do anything about it at all, just as Biden has not. If I had to guess, I would guess that they would lose money if they did. That's just a guess though, I admit. Hopefully that's not really the case.

Raggie33, I think you absolutely should have one, form what I gather you would never abuse it, and you'd treat it as your child, if anyone should have a dog, it is you. People say a lot of things, does not mean they know better.

Don't listen to the media about what Trump will do. Look at what he already did. He made insulin cheap under Medicare Part D plans in 2020. Biden and Harris are still taking credit for that one since it went into effect once they got into office. He passed the Music Modernization Act giving singers like Taylor Swift a huge increase in what they could make in the industry. He got us out of NAFTA and into the USMCA trade deal so our industry jobs would stop going overseas. He gave choice to veterans who before had to seek help for medical care from the V.A.. Now they have the option to go to private clinics and hospitals. He appointed the first black man to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson. So remember this when you hear people call him racist. When Taylor Swift insults him, remember he made her rich. When people say his policies will bankrupt the country, remember that before Covid, we were energy independent, we were at peace, food and housing was cheaper, our border was secure, unemployment was low, and your dollar was worth at least 20% more than it is now. Don't freak out that Trump is President again. He has brought Democrats on board the administration and has geniuses like Elon Musk to help put the country back on track. This is going to be an age of healing and unifying the nation as we fix our problems together. National security, defense, inflation, health and safety of our children, and energy independence should not be divisive. I think those are massive things that both parties can work on together and they may not have time to do much else anyway.
