This is a Bare Al. Aleph III that one of our CPF members had asked me to build for him. I used U2SVOH emitters from Photonfanatic and McR18S reflectors from the Shoppe. A Shark is running the 3 Seouls in series. The LEDs have a very nice warm tint as can be seen in the pics and now make my 4 Seoul Aleph III look blue. The bare Aleph III looks great on one of the "Ribbed For Your Pleasure" bodies 1WRX7 and myself had designed. I'm sure the owner will enjoy it:naughty:
Thanks for letting me work on this Beauty!

The Driver Housing/ LED Heatsink
A hole was drilled through the button head allen bolt.
The bolt diameter was also turned down using my drill and a file....poor mans lathe.
Dead Shark for mock-up...please ignore the nasty solder blob:whistle::shakehead

This shows the slotting I had to do to allow it to sit even with the Shark.

I'm saving up for a lathe:ohgeez:

Tim, you give new meaning to "scrap metal" - very resourceful.

Why bother with a lathe, seems like you're making do just fine! Nice mod.

Hey why is the dead shark still with you? :poke:

Last week was an F-story...

I sent the package out today. Thanks again for your kind offer:thumbsup:

LED Zeppelin, Thanks for the compliment:wave:
While I don't mind "being resourceful", it would be very nice to not have to spend so much time cutting, filing, welding, test fitting and so forth just to make a simple heatsink. I'm not saying the lathe will be easy to learn, but my mods look like "Sanford and Son" compared to your "Terminator III" type parts. I'll do what I have to until then, but I think it would be a great skill to learn and very handy to have around when I need to Fab something up.

I have been using this light all weekend and REALLY like it!
The tint is just great and the heat transfer to the bezel is very good.
I am very impressed by the throw of these little McR18S reflectors.
I have enough parts to build myself one, so I'm sure that will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks guys!
Your comments mean a lot to me.
I do like the fact that I have been able to get along without a lathe, but it would allow me to take things to the next level.:naughty:

Hopefully all will go well and I'll have one in the fall or worste case, before winter.

The owner of this beautiful light has still not gotten back to me:thinking:
I hope everything is Ok.

Awesome Job....

Not bad for not having a lathe...love to see what you come up with when you are armed with the lathe..:D
