Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

My girlfriend is gonna kill me. She already says that I have too many flashlights, and I just bought one of the last green Blaster III's. I'm going to have to hide it from her, I guess. She's big on getting the bills paid off and if/when she finds out that I bought another flashlight, . . . . . . . . . .*in the best Kramer impression I can do*. . . . there's gonna be trouble!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

It's all Wayne's fault. He inticed me with that dark green color, and saying that he wasn't going to make anymore green ones.

She's 5'1" tall, 115 lbs. and I'm scared to death!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Do I come clean and take my medicine?
Do I hide it until a future time when the bills are paid off?
Do I show it to her and stand my ground?
Do I go off to a corner and get in the fetal position?

What have I done, . . WHAT HAVE I DONE!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

That's a toughie. In all honesty, you shouldn't have done it...

I say hide it and don't buy any more for a good long time.

There, there, Orion. I know exactely where you are coming from. I feel your pain buddy. We are all here for you... let it out. I was in the same boat last month. I shelled out $500 on a McCulloch X990 HIDsearchlight and my wife almost hit the ceiling! But we worked it out and I let her buy "a little" Tupperware. Come clean quickly! KEY NOTE before you tell her: cuddle with her some evening, have flowers ready, and then talk with her and tell her that you love her because she is so understanding and caring about you and your feelings etc. etc.(women eat that up). Tell her that she is "the best". Then start to tell her about what you are in the process of doing(act very excited because she wont want to hurt your feelings when she knows that is something that makes you happy). Never wait until later. Women hate that- they want to be able to trust in you. If they can't trust you it gets UGLY. Good luck. It'll work out, is always does some how.

Yeah, I kinda did, 4X4Dragon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The only possible good point is that we AREN'T married yet and it IS still MY money. When we're married, it then becomes OUR money and I won't have the freedom then. . . . . . . . .or am I still in trouble? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

A girlfriend is just woman.
But a good flashlight is a lighting instrument.

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

Send me all your new lights for safekeeping and I'll send them to for your Birthday or for Christmas! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"Honey! Look what my old (insert favoriate relationship ie "Army Buddy") sent me!"

It'll also allow me to get some runtime plots on lighs I can't afford. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If u already have many flashlights, just hide it among them....i dont think she would notice it would she?

For me, its my parents who dont know how much it costs...if they do.....the floor beneth me would open and swallow me up and i would be off to see the dude who started all these in the first place...Albert E.

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

I just tell mom & dad I have all these lights "because of the website" and they seem to let it be at that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If they ever knew I was a raging flashaholic, they might fly up from CA. and throw most of them away! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

Have it sent to your workplace instead of home. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well, I rarely get much grief for buying toys, but in the past when I have been fussed at I have just said that I was sorry and that I would try to take up more common and cheapers vices; smoking, hanging out in bars , running around with loose women, etc. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

I had similar thoughts but talked it out beforehand, as I'm doing with most purchases over $20 or so since the economy has led me to have more time than money for a while. I'd have to agree, unless it can 100% be hidden forever, talking about it sooner's better than later.

As it's turned out, that Green Blaster III has been the last flashlight I bought, and I bought it a few days after Elektrolumens put them up for sale. Could I possibly have bought enough flashlights? Didn't expect it to happen, but maybe so. Next big purchase has been these for the iPod I got as a gift. They're heaven to listen to, and the iPod's EL backlight is a good don't stub your toes in the dark flashlight.

Some idgit in MacAddict said the red backlighting on the buttons "is a touch of design genius, since red is the ideal color for your eyes to adjust to in the dark." Yeah, like that'll help when the screen is so bright it'll blow your night vision away in a few seconds.

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

Thanks for the support guys, keep it coming. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

Expect to see some stuff for sale in the B/S/T forum from me now, because of this Blaster III. Stuff I have extra that I don't need, plus an Arc collectors item that I may kick myself later for selling. Or (to use the new graemlin), that I may beat my head against a wall later for selling! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif Stupid, . . Stupid, . . Stupid, . .etc...

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

I think you should hide it and make sure wherever you hide it she wont look! My woman is like the American Bald Eagle (and I'm in the UK)she has eyes everywhere and she doesn't miss a trick. She knows all my lights and if anything new appears...............well you can guess I wont be happy for a loooooooong while!
I note recently that I managed to pull one over on her when I got my new KL1 bezel. I said it was a new bulb and she kinda accepted it. That worked for a week until the bill arrived. Guess what?...........I wont be happy for a loooooooong while!

Orion:

Dang, Orion! Your title had me a little confused until I read the thread. My initial look at the title had me thinking that you got a Blaster III w/ the dreaded green LS beam! Should have known better... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

Tell her you sold some old ones and bought the Blaster III, it will sound much better, BST is a place you go! That way you won't be cheating on her and you won't be spending too much on lights.

Vince.

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

nukiez, I have had to resort to the B/S/T forum. I'm reluctantly selling off a few items, some were extras (you know, you can never have TOO many!), and one that I hesitated to sell. Oh well, perhaps that will soften the blow when the Blaster shows up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Fortunately, we have separate living accomodations (she has a house, I'm in an apartment complex), so she wouldn't know unless I told her, . . . . . . which may happen soon. Oh well, I guess the sooner the better.

I can only guess how many times this scenario has played out in the houses that YOU all reside in! The "I can't believe you bought ANOTHER flashlight!" kind of conversation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Re: Trouble comin\' . . . bought a Green Blaster III

You can't win:

I get grief from my wife about anything flashlight related. Even when I get cash for lights I've sold or receive non-light trades she goes ballistic when she discovers I've allocated time to "my obsession."

She stumbled across a opaque postage box full of Dremel tool accessories this morning that I haven't bought a divided storage box and started by bitching that I'd received another flashlight. I claimed the high ground noting that I'd traded a light for all the tools.

If you think she was placated dream on. She only has to think flashlight to turn red. Her predictable response was that I don't use the dremel tool enough to make additional tools worth while.
