I never understood the fuss. A light bulb is 100 percent efficent if it is also being used as heat. The I M Pei library in Columbus was designed to use light bulbs only for heat. I worked as quality control for Colorcraft. We used 1500 watt bulbs with a life of 40 hours. They cranked out much ultraviolet. So much that one of our printers got skin cancer under her nose. This was after bouncing of several aluminum mirrors and traveling through 2 dichoric glass filters. Also they got hot enough to cause the quartz to melt and flow. The machine tool industry is doing a good job recycling tungsten. It seems is disolves nicely in acid.

The issue here is if that heat is useful, or something that needs to be managed. If you need cooling, then the extra heat put into the space is extra load on the cooling system, which means that you pay twice for the energy - once when it gets added to the space, and again when you remove it - instead of not paying for it all if you used a source that had less heat output. And if you need heating, then while the heat is useful and not waste, you may be paying more for your resistance heater than you would for that same amount of heat delivered by combustion or a heat pump.

No replacement for incandescent bulbs for reptile enclosures.
Got the strangest look at restore when i bought the whole case of 75w reflector bulbs they were clearing out at $0.25
