<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I didn't know that Asp makes chrome taclites. Are those the internal or external focus models (or both?)

Which ever it is, be sure to get the Triad lamp, not the original cylindrical Taclite lamp. The newer lamp can be more tightly focused.

Also, the internal focus model is "set and forget" which is, IMO a more stable configuration,
although some users may prefer external focus despite the liabilities that go along with the advantages of that system.

Hi Brightnorm,

I have a Type I, internal focus, chrome one. It's a beauty.

I also have a type II black color one. It does require some attention to focus it properly but the results are the same tight focus. I love them both.

The "silver" version is actually an electroless nickel finish over the aluminum body. It is frequently used in firearms, quite durable, and has a matte finish. A little too shiny for my taste but nonetheless does a good job of minimizing rust in steel firearms.

You should see the 18K version. That one is something else. I gave a set consisting of a Taclite and a 16" collapseable baton in a hand rubbed walnut presentation case to a good friend when he retired from public service earlier this year. Very appealing!

road, can I get a gold type 1 (internal focuser) with the triad lamp? how much $?

KT,

You once had a beautiful extreme closeup of the Triad lamp. Is it still available?

What advantages or disadvantages does this have as compared to the rest of the 2x123A stable and particularly the most common ones (LX, E2, Scorpion). Thanks.
