So ... the new Fenix E05R has an outdated micro USB port?

Yes, plus a built in non-replaceable battery, so it's important to realize that this is sadly another throw away disposable light as soon as the battery no longer keeps a decent charge (warranty is only 2 years).

Hey, guys. Your comments are valid for sure. However, we at Fenix Store look at it as $15/year use for a $30 light. That's a good deal. We do wish there was a Type C USB port but again...$15/year. Thanks for being part of our CPF community. The Fenix engineers closely watch comments here so keep sharing your thoughts.

UPDATE ON COMMENTS:
We sent this thread to the Fenix engineers and this is their response. Please note the USB port information.

"Thank you for bringing that to our attention. Actually, before its official launch, we had similar questions towards why the E05R has a Micro USB port instead of the Type-C port. Our engineer said that considering the dimension, there is no much space for the type-C to fit in. The E05R is targeted as a rechargeable keychain light, unlike the E09R which has a type-C port but the diameter is wider than the E05R. If you want the type-C charging keychain light, we have the E03R which is not cylinder but it has enough space for a type-C port. If you want a keychain light with replaceable battery, you can choose the E01 V2.0 powered by one AAA battery. At the same time, you should compare the performances between the E05R and the E01V2.0, and the ways to operate. If you want all the preferred features to be included in one keychain light, you would find the design and the price would be totally different. So there you will always need to find the balance between lots of aspects."

Please let us know if you have further comments. Thanks again for being a part of this community.

Please look at the post we made from the Fenix engineers. There is always a valid explanation on the engineers' decisions. Please continue to question what you need further explanation on and we will make sure you get that. Thanks!
