UCL lens for Dereelight ruined.

Ordered the 28.6mm UCL lens knowing it would be half a mm to big. I then spent an hour taking the dia down on wet/dry until it fitted. Was just about to smooth the edge when my hand slipped and the unmasked lens slid across the paper. Many little scratches ruined the surface feel like an idiot, should have masked the lens again. Have another here and will try again when i have the energy.

Where did you order the lens from? Let us know if you can see any improvement.

Straight from UCL, i ordered two but the second is thicker and will take longer to reduce. Just cannot face it right now.

I feel your pain. I really wish someone would make a good lens for the DBS. Its really the only bad part of the light. I am on my second one for my V3 and its already trashed. ugh.

This is for the CL1H, if i mask it with scotch tape it should work. All i can do is try again.

Done it:laughing: Scotch tape masked and wet/dry later and it fits perfectly.

Having no access to a light meter at the moment i can only go on comparative eyeballing. It does seem a cleaner brighter beam with the new lens. It certainly looks better front on as the new glass has a more gem like quality compared with the old one. Takes about 40 min to take the over size UCL down to a tight fit but i think it was worth it.
