I remember somewhere on the for sale post, someone questioned how "durable" the light may be. I didn't drop it, but I did try to mount it to a dirtbike's handle bars last weekend.
I used one of those velcro mounts with a rubber spacer specifically for mounting maglights to bicycle handle bars. The flashlight mounted fine, but it didn't work long enough for me to get on the motorcycle. I think the vibration shakes the HID so much that it either knocks the arc out or vibrates the battery holder too much.
I noticed that the switch is very sensitive. A slight tap and the light will go out. You need to click it fully again to get the switch in the off position, and then fully again to re-strike. Luckily the switch is recessed and this doesn't happen often.
As far as throw... I was out on a moonless night. I put fresh batteries in my SNII. The mini-HID out threw the SNII and put out a much bigger hot spot with tons of spill light, compared to the SNII.
Overall, this is a great light and well made. I didn't have my hopes high for mounting it on the handlebars, so it is not really a loss to me. All of my friends were shocked at the amount of light it put out. On the previous trip, they were shocked about the SNII.
I just got my Niterider Cyclone this week. I'll do a comparison shortly.
