Greetings all!

Some days ago I received Ultrafire's 4-mode Cree Module. (from the Ultrafire-Shop though it is also available from DX)

The module is rated for 3.6-9 volts by Ultrafire and I was able to verify it by placing it in a Surefire C3.

The module has no mode memory, so each tap brings you to the next one, and if you put the light off it will come up in the next mode when you fire it up again. Not that big an issue for me.

BUT what I did not like is its low output. A bit higher than a 3W T-bin module still not up to the market. There is a reason for this

In a Huntlight FT-01 and 2 Ultrafire WF-502B bodies amp readings where:

High: 300 mA
Medium: 240 mA
Low: 90 mA
Strobe: about 140 mA (it seems to me that strobe is a bit fast, definitely over 10hz)

In the Surefire C3 readings where: 220 / 110 / 80 mA.

In the latter case there was not a big (perceived) difference between the High and Medium mode.

Tint is bluish to purplish, still "whiter" than some Fenix Cree and Huntlight Luxeon offerings I have.

Also beam is more spottish than expected

Overall judgment will be made once I receive another 6V-compatible multimode module I am expecting from KD.

enjoy, Kostas

Thanks for the informative review. Looks like the 5-mode might be the better one to get.

Some of the 5-mode lights (for eg the TR-C1) specifically state that they can handle a max of 6v but Not 2 rechargeable LiIons. Others, like the TR-C2 are more vague.

I believe they are using these boards:-

They look identical to me (even priced the same) but kai mentions a voltage range of 2.6-6v while DX states a max of 4.5v.

On the other hand, the Donnan drop-in by Kai also gives a range of 2.7-4.2v.

Interesting thing is, the TR-C1 goes from low-medium-high while the Donnan drop-in goes from high-meidum-low. So, perhaps there are 2 different boards.

I see your piont here.It looks like it will have a long rumtime with 3 123.I just got a 3-13v from DX and the ma. readings are:
2 cell...880
3 cell...570
4 cell...410
DON

Damm

I just ordered the 4 mode module along with some rechargeables from DX.

Kos - Interesting DX customer love (support) has advised me not to use the Ultrafire rechargerables with this module but the newexcit site indicates that ther should be wellwithin range. Are you sure they are the same modules? The 4 mode thing makes it sopund the same

I am new to this space and confused. What is a better reasonably priced multimode module for a Surefire 6p running disposable or rechargeable CR123's?
I would apprediate advice!
