Ultrafire C# color and heat

I purchased an Ultrafire C3 from DealExtreme (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1993#) and liked it very much except for a mild green-yellow tint to the beam's color. I decided to purchase another one from them, but was told that they were out of stock. About a week later the unit was shipped. I noted that the new Ultrafire C3 had a light that was now white with no green tint. However, unlike the first light, the front did get warm after a few minutes. I have never seen this in my other flashlights and wonder if this heat is a problem. Also, has the Ultrafire C3 changed its LED or circuit to account for the differnce in color and temperture?

All LEDs create heat, at least untill the reach 100% efficiency. High power ones like the Cree are driven at higher current then the 5mm common LEDs(20milliamp vs up to 1000+ milliamp of the Cree, 60-70% of the power is released as heat). The Flashlight heating up usually means there is a good heat path to cool the LED. You hand usually act as the heat-sink in most high power LED flashlights. You should be worried of the flashlight doesn't start heating up after a few minutes of use.

It seems you never know what you are going to get when you order an Ultrafire C3 from Dealextreme. My first one had a definite green-yellow tint to the light. The second was close to pure white. What color tint does yours have?

My C3 from DeXlight is good warm tint for me. The circuit drive not too much current to cree so it is warm operate for long time use.

Picking up one these Ultrafire C3 2xAA models now that it comes with a 2xAA extension tube. The added mass to light should be better for heat issues.
