I just ordered both. I'll post my impressions and some beamshots when they get here.

the C3 is 1AA or 2AA with extender
the C5 is 1 CR123A or 2AA with extender

will be interesting to see how the C3 performs with only 1AA (in terms of beam compared to 2AA and the C5 on 1 CR123A)

http://x2x3x2.armyofspartans.net/led/uf_c5/review.html are useful reviews, but Ive not decided yet either.

i prefer the looks and size of the C5 and according to the measurements on the above reveiws it gets a much better output using a CR123A than a single AA on the C3? but i dont know if I prefer the convenience of a single AA, and the single AA has a better runtime (using NiMH) than the C5's cr123a.

(and i prefer the lanyard on the C3 to the clip on the C5 -but i can change that)

Hi,

I am in the same dilema. I think i'll choose the C3. If you plan using 14500, you can use it with 3 differents batteries setup. I also prefer the C3 look.

Just not sure about the output gain from 1xAA to 1x14500. I read many reviews here but no comparison.

Does the C3 is as bright as the C5 when both running on 3.7v? I'll wait for this interresting answer to make my choice.

A natural HAII finish or GITD button or 3modes version would be very cool for the C3.

Thanks!

The C5 provides good output from 2x AA cells, granted it's nowhere near the output level of the Fenix L2D CE on Turbo mode. However it's about twice as bright as the UltraFire C3

Twice as bright!. Could you tell me what cell the C3 is running?

Is that 1xaa

or 2xaa

or 1x14500

I am looking for a comparo on the same imput i.e. 3.7 volts or both running on 2xAA.

Thanks!

Ok

Just saw the lux rating on Lightreview

1204 lux for the C3 on an Eneloop 1.5v

for the C5:
3440 lux on a AW 750mah 3.7v
2260 lux on 2xAA Energizer 1.5v
2110 lux on a e2 Cr123 3.0v

The test for the C3 seems not completed (waiting interresting results from 14500). I suspect much higher lux numbers with twice the voltage.

Thanks!

C3 with 14500 is little bit brighter than C3 with 2AA. Perhaps 2800 lux is an reasonable assumption since it runs with little warmth.

You mean 1204lux for C3 on 1x Eneloop Nimh.

Hopefully that number will increase when running 2x AA cells. I'll run both and report back whenever mine shows up in the mail.

You are OK, corrected.

Thanks!

Bummer, just ordered C3 with 2xAA body :sigh:, but then again the C3 review probably didnt use 2xAA body.

If C5 twice as bright as C3 with the same battery setup(hopes not) then i should have ordered C5 instead..:(

I would be very surprised if the is C5 twice as bright with the same imput.

I am sure you did right choice with the C3.
