I've just received new UltraFire unprotected RCR2 batteries from Kai. I think it's a necessary practice to check the voltage of Li-Ion batteries before charging them. So I checked these and they show 0.6V. AFAIK, this is way too low for Li-Ion. Should I send these back to Kai?

Yes the cell needs to be returned. It would be damaged if the voltage falls below 2.5v. The battery should not be charged. For that matter a smart charger will not even charge it.

Funny enough, I was just doing a spot check on my batteries. I found an UF, RCR2 with a reading of .6v

This battery had not been used; since it's last recharging, 1 month ago.

Using an UF, WF-138 (set to 3.0v), I was able to recharge it to 3.34v
Took about 45 minutes

[Edit to Add]
The charging at 3.0v was to test the battery. I'm going to complete the charging process at the 3.6v setting.

LGCubana: How did you get the RCR2 to fit this charger? Did you use a spacer? If so what type and where did you get it? I have the UF WF-138 switchable. It's supposed to be used for RCR123 batteries, I thought, which is why the space for charging is too longer for the RCR2.

I've got a couple of the spacers that AW sells with his CR2 offerrings.

BTW, right off of the charger (set to 3.6v), the battery measured 3.81v
But within 1 hr. it read 3.4v
Now 12 hrs. later, it reads 3.34v

I just received four Ultrafire R123A cell from DX, two of them measured under 1 volt (one was leaking) and the other two can't seem to hold a charge for more than a couple days (charge to 4.2, then they're back down to 3.x overnight). This was my first order of non-AW Li-Ion cells and probably my last.
