Hi,

I am toying with buying one of two Streamlight flashlights - either an Ultra Stinger or an SL-20X LED. Both seem to use a 5 cell, sub C NiCd pack, which is what I am after, along with an all Al body. Right now, think I prefer the SL-20X LED model for modding reasons.

I am mostly buying it as a host / mule, so the "as is" performance of one over the other is not a big consideration. Mostly I am just curious about the battery pack details:

- Is it the same pack? There are enough Streamlight lights with similar enough model numbers that I am not entirely sure, and they are clearly different lights.

- Does anyone have a picture of the ends of the pack? I am trying to figure out if this is the pack with both positive / negative on one end, or just a long, button top pack?

- Are there any reasons / complications that would deter me from just charging this pack on my Triton II?

- I buy some NiMH 5,000 MAH packs for r/c from these guys, and wondered if I can use the same cell for packs, or if it will be too large?

The cell is the ELITE5000SC, which is 23.11 mm dia, before being wrapped up for a pack.

Of course I would rather put AW's safe Li cells in one, but that does not seem be possible.

Thanks for any advice / comments.

You might try brightguy.com. They have pictures and descriptions of various streamlight battery packs. Just click on the various models and their accessories. Pay particular attention to the positive end of the pack.
