The beam pattern on my brand new Streamlight ultra stinger is full of rings.

Is this normal for this light.

Other than taht...awesome light.

The new reflector texturing for SL US causes rings. I was disappointed in mine and sold it. I much prefer the beam quality of the Super Stinger with upgrade HP head and bulb, much smoother and still throws. I have been looking for a used Super Stinger since two of mine were stolen. I have two HP heads, both with orange peel texturing.

What does your reflector look like ? Mine has a textured surface on the inner half (medial) part of the reflector.

It focuses to a pretty nice, not perfect, but tight beam.

The reflectors of my two HP heads (same size as Ultra head) are 100% orange peel. They have different threads and will not work with the UltraStinger. They were produced as upgrades for Stinger's, and Super Stingers. If I have battery packs made with 5X 1/2Sub C's, then I will use in my Stinger's with HP heads.

My US is as yours is described, the inner half is textured while the remaining half is smooth. I think this combination promotes a good throw and I have been quite happy with mine...
