Hi everyone! Been gone for a little while due to personal matters but I'm back now!

I've got this Ultrastinger and been wondering if there are any halogen bulbs currently still available that would give a little extra brightness. In truth I'm looking to build a battery carrier for 2x 21700s, so a bulb that could handle that voltage without blowing up is what I'm looking for.

The reflector seems to be aluminium and I'd image can handle the heat. Will the plastic lens become a problem?
Are there FM ceramic sockets available?

I'm not sure about the output of the original xenon bulbs. If the light cannot handle the heat of higher output bulbs I'd be fine with something of similar brightness, simply higher voltage to handle the lithium batteries.

Thanks!

That is a though one, FM was specializing in maglite and surefire upgrades, I do not think he ever made anything for ultra stinger, thou i could be wrong. Plastic lens will definitely become an issue with stronger bulbs.

I would go another way, stock 6xsub c are 258mm long, 3x 21700 210mm long, I would build a small voltage regulator pill that would take extra space, after the switch, before the cells, even if you use protected cells, there is still room, however it is more complicated.

It's a 5x sub C pack, so I can only fit 2x21700. I might be able to fit 3x18650s, but there wouldn't be any space for additional electronics. I wouldn't be able to construct such a regulator pill myself anyway, so I'd rather go with the simpler solution of finding a bulb that can handle the voltage.

If the heat is a problem there might be bulbs of there which don't run much hotter than stock?

Yea, my bad, it is 5 cells, some wires crossed in my brain, lol if you stay with stock bulb wattage you should be ok, in theory at least.

Thanks! The WA1160 seems to be discontinued. I'm guessing this was a 6V bulb, which might make it difficult to use with my planned 2xli-ion setup. What made the 1160 different from other G4 bulbs? I do have 10W Osram 64410 aswell as 20W 64250 laying around. In my 3C Maglite in which I use these I had to install a QTC to keep the bulb from blowing on fresh batteries.

Does anyone happen to know what the wattage of the original UltraStinger bulb is? I'd assume its at or below 10W.

UltraStinger has it's own bulb integrated with plastic base and bi-pin bulb will not fit and focus correctly.
If you can find Carley 1499 bulb with uncut long pins then you can adjust length of pins for correct focusing heigh.
Original bulb is 6 Volt, 10 Watt and Carley 1499 is 7.2 V, 14 Watt.

When clipping the pins of my 10W 64410 I am able to insert and focus it correctly. But it doesn't sit very securely of course. If I were to bump the head against something it might shift or even fall out. But it does work. I could do the same with any 20W bulb of course.

I would likely be able to fit 3x18650. I wonder if a regular 12V 20W G4 would be under driven enough to not melt the lens. I doubt that tho.

Only one way to find out. But as you mentioned, they're expensive.
