I got this about a month ago, used it sparingly, than flicker/bad contact started last week. I can see down the tube the bad solder connection from pill to casing, but can't fix it because head does not come off and soldering iron wont fit.

After my last fiasco with returning to DX, Im just gonna eat the loss on this one and not order anymore of these junk lights from them. It was a good run, but too many defects lately and awful customer support/return procedures really makes buying from them distasteful.

I agree with the comments regarding DX. I've had a good run but lately it's come to an end with hassles.

Regarding the pill however, I've found that every time I think something is to too hard to reach...there is usually another way that I've missed. After all they had to be able to put it together.

Can you just unscrew the pill and then take care of the solder? Or, are you sure the head doesn't come off? Everything that is in there had to get there in the first place. :)

The pill should unscrew out of the bottom of the head. Get some needle nose pliers and put the tips in the two notches in the outer ring of the pill. At least that's how my crappy 6-mode S10 works.

Make sure the tailcap is tightened as well since that is a source of a lot of flickering issues.

yeah, the head came off with some channel locks, maybe they had some loctite on it, ill try and fix it now, butstill very disappointed. also looks more like a problem with tube length so I'll try and fix problem with some thin gauge wire to make up the gap.

For what it's worth when I think I've run into a Loctite problem I just put the head into some boiling water for a few minutes and then use whatever I have to to apply force. It makes it easier at least.

I'm getting tired of DX as well. I just ordered something from the US (Friday) and it arrived today. That's not an experience I've had for awhile after dealing with DX!

I´ve had only good customer care
...though I have made quite many orders. To relatives, friends, to myself...

Once I didn´t have to send back a broken Bluetooth HF, they send a new one free. :duh2:

So you call taking a week to answer your email, making you take pictures of broken doa junk, not reimburse you for shipping, making you provide proof of shipping and photo that as well, poor communication the whole time with broken english/confusing instructions, taking 3 months to get item back to you only to find out new one is junk also....good customer service??

This is common to many members here, you must have a lot of patience or just dont care

Well, it takes a lot of time to ship things, I admit.
To my email, response took only day or two.

On previous post I meant to say: I haven´t shipped anything back, new product free of charge.

Worst customer care I´ve EVER had was from internet Cigar-store in US...:banghead:
I´m not mentioning it but to my knowledge, it is not the smallest one either...
Usually these shops are very interested in serving their customers the best way.

edit:

Example of customer care from some cigar shops:
I wrote this, went to my mailbox, discovered a parcel from Geneve, what the...
They have actually sent me a box of chocolate :D
...thay also send cards for christmas etc :)

Free shipping on small orders is the thing that counts for me.
I live in a rather small place, sometimes easier to order some small junk than go find who sells it / order from domestic ($$$).

We may have wobbled a little OT here, but I personally view DX as a source of "throw-away" products. If one didn't work well, I'd either toss it or maybe scrounge some parts off of it and then toss it.

But then, I wouldn't buy $100 items from them, either. :naughty:

For $15 lights - like the 501B and 502B, which are pretty well proven - DX is a great source IMO. Cheap and pretty dependable. I have 3 501's, a dandy Romisen RC-K4, a no-name, and another 501 on the way, as well as a P60 drop-in or two from them, and all work fine.

But if one stopped working today I'd just strip it of parts and forget it. No RMA's for me. Take them for what they are!

I bought three of the Uniquefire S10 flashlights (6-mode version) and they arrived a couple of days ago. I probably wouldn't have bought them if I had seen a thread like this before... but so far they all work fine.

LobsterX warned me not to use 14500 lithiums because the driver may get fried. From reading the dealextreme forum posts it appears that the single-mode version works fine with 14500s but anyone with the multi-mode version should stick to AA NiMHs. They really shouldn't advertise compatibility with 14500s if the driver cannot tolerate them.

I suppose buying from DX is a bit of a lottery. You may get something at a really great price that works, or because of poor quality control you may get something defective (or something you have to fix yourself before it works properly).

The waiting time is annoying - I originally ordered a few of the TrustFire XP-EF23 flashlights but they weren't in stock (despite the product page saying they were) so after waiting a couple of weeks I changed the order. Overall I am happy because the price is so much lower than what I'd pay in a retail store for an inferior product.

I totally agree with Mike_Tx.

How anyone can expect premium quality and the most exellent customer service with the very low prices and free postage one pays at DX is a mystery. Where else do you get that with the same conditions?

I find it more amazing that they in spite of the low prices and free postage can sell so many rather fine lights.

Personally I have only had one problem with DX. I did not receive the item and I had my money back on my account the day after I had e-mailed them!

Maybe members should take a more closer look at the Jeers section here at CPF. Most of the bad guys there are not chinese!!

DX always sent me new items, no questions asked, when I received DOA or problematic items, even if it was a light for more than $10.

Also, I would take HK Post over USPS or Royal Mail any day.

I've had quite a few cheap items from DX and all worked perfectly ... Only once did an item fail to arrive ... I waited a month and then complained ... I had a full Paypal refund the day after I complained ... I would certainly use them again even though the delivery is slow ... Two weeks is very fast for them and three weeks ('ish) is about right to arrive in the UK.

The price is right.

I've come to the same conclusion, but have had good luck with the lights.

It was the last batch of WAY-TOO-LONGFIRE lithium ion 16340's & trying to get the lame return process to work (finally gave up).

It was fun getting a few decent lights dirt cheap, but I know I've been lucky with them compared to others.
I expected to have to do some minimal work on the lights after reading here, no big deal if you know it going in, but the BS with the way out of spec batteries and the joke of a return process (& other irritants) is not worth the hassle.

Called in an order today at Lighthound (& talked to a real human!) for a bunch of AW's & stuff I would have picked up from DX.

Don't get me started on the shipping, waiting & backordered issues:shakehead.
