All of us who dream of running a P91 on two 150s or 17500 protected cells, dream on. The P91 deserves the longer, Pila 168S or Wolf Eyes 168B (or, probably, Microfire) cells. In fact, if you wish to turn on your P91 with a single click, the longer cells are required. Funny I should mention it: I just made such a light last night!

PS: AW's protected 17670 cells won't work with a P91, even with a double click.

I will someday get around to doing some runtime plots (not as nice a TIN's or Roy's though) on common incans (Tec 40, Rage, Blast, UK4AA, Twuntask 2L, etc). I am curious to know just how long they will really run to 50%.

Though IME the P91 is brighter on 3 SF CR123As, it is not by very much. I can't wait to slip a TL3 lamp into a old G&P 6V lamp assembly. Look at the efficiency! And it will run even brighter on 2X protected 17500s! (Counter-intuitive, but that is my observation)

I'm not sure this can be done, NextLight. G&P reflectors expect a bulb that is externally threaded, to screw in to internal threads on the reflector. Perhaps if the fit is sufficiently tight, the bulb will stay in place. In what bezel were you going to use this arrangement? A 1.25-inch standard Surefire/G&P tactical bezel, I presume.

Most of us on CPF don't accept Stramlight's "200 lumens" claim at face value. 175 lumens is the more credible number.

Last night, having received my Wolf Eyes 168B (aka 168s) cells, I fired up a P91 working for the first time. I immediatly saw what all the fuss is about:

• Compared to a TL-3, the P91 projects far more lumens.
• Compared to my Wolf Eyes 135-lumen 9V lamp assembly, the P91's beam is MUCH brighter and marginally wider.
• Compared to my RICO Alpha 9 "250 lumen" 9V lamp assembly, the P91 appears to be 90 percent as bright but double the area.
• Compared to my G&P 220-lumen 12V lamp assembly, the P91 is about 20 percent brighter. But the G&P 12V projects a noticably wider beam. In fact, the G&P is the only lamp assembly I own that's wide enough for me to use without a diffuser.

Of course, runtime is far shorter.

Yep. My AW 17500Ps current limit at 1.15A, (1 second average) and then go into OCP (over current protection) and 0.0 A. They do work fine with my TL-3, and the combo (for the first 15 minutes) is brighter than my M3T-MN16 on SF 123As.

The inrush startup current of larger incandescents puts my AW 17500Ps in OCP. For a cell this size, I would expect more like 1.8A continuous, but it ain't so.

It's a safety vs. power output trade-off, but rather too conservative for my needs. Pilas on order. This is not to suggest I am displeased with AWs product; The batteries and chargers I bought serve me well. We just need to recognize the limits.
