What safety rules do I need to keep in mind when using Li-Ion 3.7 v batteries in my Fenix LD01 or Fenix E20?

Is it safe to carry one around in my LD01 on my keychain all the time?

Are charged Li-Ions safe to leave in my car in the summer?

Can I use Li-Ion AA with spacers in my 3 D Maglite with the normal incandescent bulb?

Can you recommend a good, safe charger and the best brand of Li-Ions?

Have you actually used these batteries? Any bad experiences?

Thanks for sharing your expertise!

For safety rules study this link: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone.htm and scroll through the many threads on this subject. Note that 10440's, because of their small size, are necessarily unprotected - as to both over-discharge and over-charging.

I carry a Peak Baltic P4 with 10440's on my keychain 24/7, (and before that did the same with an LDO1-Q5 and before that an LOD-Q4), and always have a Peak Pacific P4 with a 10440 broiling in my truck. I've not been fried yet, nor have I seen any evidence of any problem at all with the 10440's I've used.

But beware, that voltage generates heat in a hurry - much more than some lights can handle. More importantly, because of the limited capacity of these batteries and because they cannot be drained too far without compromising safety and battery life, you should not plan to use them except for relatively short bursts or momentary use, and keep them topped off.

I don't recall ever using an incandescent bulb (Alzheimer's, I guess) and have no experience using LiIon's with them. No doubt, others here at CPF can address that question infinitely better than I.

All the LiIon's I've used have been from AW - see his thread in the Marketplace - and I have been totally satisfied in every respect. For 10440's I use a NANO charger and have had no bad experiences - but be certain to closely monitor the charge (and its location) and remove the battery immediately after the charge shows complete.
