She's MINE, alll mine. teehee. Now I can compair XPG to XPE netural...whilst I wait for a L/M/H cool. I'm two years late to this party gentlemen, gotta dance on the tables, WhOoo!
Drat! Oh well, there is always the Moddoolar triple LMH head in natural HA. I could always pair that up with a HA Moddoolar body and Tailcap. Would proabably set me back about $360 with a 2 x 18500 Moddoolar tube.

Bah. My wife would kill me. I might just wait until the LMH XPE engines are back in stock, and order a bored A19 extension for my C2 or 6P and 2 x 18500 batteries to go with it. [h=1][/h]

XP-E choice sounds interesting. Two beamshots for a better compare would be great... 🙂

Yes, if anyone can post beam shots that would be great. I've got the L1 Cool XPG (with the 9P and C3) and love it. But I might like a somewhat more condensed beam with more throw even more.

Hey Guys,

Beamshots were in the plan last weekend, I just did not find the time to do them.

I will try to get some good comparison shots and some numbers for you guys asap.

Question, 2 AW 18500's Black label 1500mha ok for this triple (not the 1400 one)? You picture the red label on Oveready but my thought it's not protected so how would one know when one cell gets under 3.2 volts? Blue I know is a 'no-no'. And the Malkoff hi/low ring is a hair too small, coincdence or you did this knowing peeps would try and blow one or both items?

The black AWs works perfect with the triples. I also use this cells with the triple dropins. Also if you use a single protected AW18650 cell the dropins work great. If you use IMR cells the current may be a little higher (since the internal resistance of IMRs is lower) in both configurations (1 cell, 2 cells) and the dopin will be a little brighter but you will not see the difference with the human eye.

Thanks Warrior, was looking up stuff on IMRs but kept refering me to Moddoo's 1400 version. That and I read the first page, weee. I'll stick with my black labels for now. Peace out!

I just want to show some love for the triples....

Last night I was driving on the darkest road in my town. It is heavily wooded and there are no houses or street lights for a few miles. I decided to open my sunroof and stick out my awesome bored C3 from Oveready and pump out 1000 lumens of neutral awesomeness. I then proceeded to shut my car headlamps off. I was amazed that I still had full visibility of the road up ahead and even the tops of the trees were lit up. I love my triple!!!

You should do a beam shot comparison between your headlights and Triple. Just kidding.

I'm thinking about buying one now.

Yes, the runtime is under 20 minutes on those tiny cells though.

These drivers are fully regulated.

They will run on 3.0V to 9.5V from most any source that can handle about 3 amps.

Finally got a 3 stage Moddoo engine in 'cool', so sweet! Love the soft switching! Only problem is I got so used to the neutral single stage I want one LMH neutral for the Moddoo tubes...when are those coming in?

WooHoo - used my XPE Neutral 3 level this week in a mill. Having had almost all iterations (except the direct drive) I've got to say there are ALOT of things I really like about this.

1. Running it on 2 x 18350s in a 6P - CHECK
2. Starting on low - GREAT, don't need to lock out tail cap - won't burn my butt if it accidently turns on in my back pocket.
3. Starting on low - usability on medium - FANTASTIC. I rarely went up to high, the medium is so useful I almost always stopped there.

I've been a huge fan in the past of memory - startup where you turned it off. Had me using it on high almost all the time (& almost burned my self a few times when it went on in a holster (bezel up, open bottom)). Only took me a few hours to appreciate the LMH and the change sometime back of higher level on medium.

HUGE Thumbs UP. What I don't know is how much of the usability of medium is due to single dye XP-E and how much is higher level medium. I get the impression that this one isn't so much the HUGE wall of light (not flood though) as the earlier models. But that is only an impression. Either way it's a home run. I use it mostly indoors in industrial setting where shade/tint is important (pulp & paper / deinking) so throw isn't that important, but think I can point out a valve easier with this than the earlier models. I usually carried my M2-SST 50 (neutral) for that.

Oh, did I mention the Neutral XP-E is a great neutral tint.

I agree with the above...starting in low is good, medium is a great level at 330 lumens or less out of my diffuser. High is only needed to make me go 'teehee'. Edit: Side note, has anyone noticed that these heads have perfect slots for small 5mm tritium vials? I don't know if it would be exceptionally wise to put a trit on a hot surface...but it's there.

As promised, I took some "in-car" beamshots. Bear with me as I only have my cell phone as a camera and it was also raining.

Both shots, the front of my car is 10-12 feet from the garage.

Low beams only:

Hope that you guys get a kick out of this!

I got my warm 3 mode triples yesterday, great tint. I really love this warm tint.

A comparsion between XP-G Neutral and XP-E neutral would be still nice. It would be interesting to see if the beam is a little lees floddy...

I have more on the bench right now. They will be ready for you guys in the next couple weeks.

Nice mini review man.
These XPE do have more Lux (intensity) than the XPG.
That is because the spot is not as wide, same amount of light, but concentrated into a smaller area.

Yes, the tint is quite nice on them too!

Hey! someone had to figure it out sooner or later!
Yes, the 1.5 x 5mm trits fit perfectly in the grooves on the Moddoolar heads.
I don't even have one with trits for myself yet. Need to order some more trits...

Norland 61 data sheet states the temp range extends up to 125C (257F) this is plenty high for use in this application.

Thanks man,

The triple has about the same amount of light as one of the headlights.

I have been quite busy restocking some things as well as working on some great new parts for you.

Thanks again for your support everyone.

WhooHoo! What do I win? I have trits, trade for a reserved neutral, hehee. I'm going to use blue ones on the cool head and red on the neutral. Get it...blue, cool, red...warm...INtense!

Oh well, whats a few more weeks but more nights to compair lights? "New parts??" ow, my wallet! Wish I was a fly on your wall. K, that was creepy. It is near halloween though...
