Hey guys, guess what just showed up!
..oh wait, wrong thread. Sorry.
OK, OK, just kidding! :nana:
Preliminary evaluation:
It's friggin' gorgeous!
Outstanding workmanship overall and easily the best lookin' drop-in I've ever seen personally.
I knew this was going to be good as soon as I saw v1.
The only reason I'm going on about the "looks" is because I have high standards regarding fit/finish. I believe this directly correlates to quality and professionalism of the overall product. I've been on the manufacturing side of things for a very long time so this is important to me. The module seems well sealed and not easily modded nor tampered with. I'd dare say it looks bulletproof but I'll have to reserve that kind of accolade till she's seen some combat and real life testing. I only have one Surefire C3 host with me at the moment to test fit/performance. The fit is good but not tight to the wall and will need a very thin shim of copper to optimize heat transfer to the body. Hell, that might even not be necessary but it wouldn't hurt so I'll probably stick one in there. There's a slight gap between the bezel and the body, just like all the Malkoff's I own/have seen. Now, before all you whiny, OCD metrosexuals start crying and throwing your fits, this is very necessary for universal fit and optimum conductivity across the many generations of Surefire P/C/Z models made throughout the years. This gap in NO WAY compromises water resistance because that is handled solely by the bezel O-ring.
Now, let's get down to what you've all been waiting for.
THIS SONUVABITCH IS BRIGHT!
Sorry, but I don't have any way to properly test lux/lumens at the moment.
I'm running it on two AW 18500's. Amperage draw @ 7.94v is 1.55A.
It's full daytime here and even with all the ambient light coming in the room it's bright as hell and has a perfectly round, huge hotspot with room filling spill. On a ceiling bounce it lights up the room like a 60 watt incandescent bulb! Sweet. I ordered the neutral version and the module is marked on the rim with a label stating 4500K. I believe Tom stated it was a 4C tint bin. It's one of the best tints I've seen yet! For lack of a better adjective, I'd say "vanilla white" with absolutely no hint of red, pink, blue or green, etc. I'm lovin' it so far and can't wait for it to get dark. Man that's gonna be a brutal wait!!!
..over 'n out.
P.S. Thanks Dan and Sarah for the hand written note.
Also, a BIG thanks to Tom and everyone involved with bringing this project to fruition!
