We need more pictures of the titanium finish! I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the extra money over a Aluminum patina finish Boss.

Anybody do a comparison with Zebralight 600 MKIV or MKIII? (may have Zebralight model # wrong but it's the newest)

I just want the Ti for the strength of the metal, my 7075 has a couple pits. I'd love to have a metal that can take more abuse.

The original V1 Patina is more visible, but they both have a distinct stonewashed type finish. The Ti version is a bit more refined and the finish will be more robust over time. There is definitely a difference in weight - the Ti version is heavier, almost like copper but not quite that heavy. The Patina version is much lighter. Advantages to both. Zero disadvantages. Hope this helps!

Thank you sir, for those pics! The Ti definitely looks as good as (or better then) the Aluminum Patina, but the finish will stay nice. I better start saving!

Titanium corrodes soon after it is exposed to the atmospheric oxygen. Titanium oxide is brutally resistant to most any corrosive agents. It is used in the paper industry to carry HF... hydrofloric acid is used to digest silica (sand/glass).

I have a pile of military surplus 6" long 3/4" diameter titanium bolts of the same alloy used in the BOSS I've used for various machining projects over the years. Rain, salt water, sun, chlorine have no effect on the finish. Some of these parts are over 20 years old since they were machined. The unused bolts look like the day I got them long ago.

It is an amazing metal... just ridiculously difficulty machine without proper equipment and knowledge. MUCH RESPECT for the fine machine work seen in these lights!!! [emoji123]🏻[emoji123]🏻[emoji123]🏻[emoji41]

Couldn't stand it.

Here's are some short quick and dirty measurements using my bargain basement General IRT207:

Starting 78°F (lens, head & body)

Run continuously on "Afterburner" setting for 30 seconds with freshly charged AW18350s. Air temperature 75°F.

Shutdown temps...

Mid body 80°F

Body near head 82°F

Head 118°F

Lens 128°F

I'll try some cool down and aluminum BOSS measurements tomorrow.

What material is this that you are testing? Titanium?

@nbp - that's a growing family of triples... and the BOSS fits in nicely with an 18650 body. All the best!

The second I walked into work this morning we were hit with a water main break, one of several these past couple weeks. Single digit temps, 8 hours and two batteries later this light performed brilliantly as usual

She took a beating today though, haven't had a chance to clean her up in a few days. Hopefully things are quite this weekend and I can get to that.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Just wondering whether there will be a Zirconium BOSS ever? Got two already on Aluminium, bit looking for a more extravagant metal.

Isn't Zirconium a ceramic used in dental crown fabrication? That would be very cool to have a front central tooth with XPL HI - Just think of the possibilities, it brings edc into a all new realm -;)
