valence nc2a laptop pack blew up while charging!

this is one of those external packs to extend runtime of your laptop.
got very hot and popped loudly emitting lithium battery odor.
this is supposedly one of those "safe" saphion cell packs.
valence tech support says these wont go into thermal runaway.
they also were not very interested in this event.
going to file a report with the cpsc and perform an autopsy.

When a saphion fails it gets considerably hot and pops.
When an ordinary LiIon fails it gets very very hot and blows up.

I don't know about you, but I'll take a pop over a KABLAM any time

By the way, do Saphion cells use the LiFePO4 chemistry or something else?
