Just out of curiosity, what would a new in box or mint Surefire U2 Porcupine be currently worth?

Thanks in advance!

If you use Ebay as a reference the last few have climbed into the $400 range. Am I correct in assuming that this is a fairly rare Surefire? Even if the new U2 are coming out I would think the original U2 porcupine would still hold value pretty well. Just my 2 cents.

I'v seen them go for over $400 and at times they dont bring the reserve last one I bid on ended at $360.00 without reaching the reserve. Whats makes this light so special other then hard to get, looks like my U2 minus that bezel.

Great question! I have often wondered the same thing. Other than the bezel and 'PK' markings isn't it a regular U2? So what makes it worth double, sometimes more, the current market value (on CPFMP and other places) of the regular U2?

To some people it won't be worth a premium at all. If you look at it purely in terms on functionality, it doesn't offer a great deal more than a standard U2. But to a collector, it could be worth anything. Take some other rare SureFires for example. The purple A2 is just the same as any other A2, just a different colour with PK's logo on the bezel. If anything you could argue that it should be worth less than a standard A2 as it isn't in HA. However, I would never offer mine up for sale because I doubt very much that anyone would want to purchase it at the price that I feel it is worth to me.

To a collector, anything that deviates from the norm can attract a premium.

+1.......some people just don't understand this. Sometimes it's a pain in the ***, but thats life.:ironic:

Exactly! I am interested in the U2-PP, but if a person would end up being stuck with it if worst came to worst than in my opinion it is not a wise choice or investment. Taking resale value into concern is not always a priority, but it definitely has to be considered when purchasing a high-end (costly) light.

Also, in my opinion, I think the rarity and appeal of Purple A2 really can't be compared to the U2-PP. I would jump on the opportunity to own a Purple A2 whether it was a wise investment or not. Although, with that said, my budget would definitely play a large factor.

The U2-PP I am referring to has the regular black anodized head, body, and tailcap and a SS bezel.
