Vape as smoking cessation

Well.... yesterday was a pack and a half day. I had used one 8 pack, but had 50% of the second one left. Basically they are vitamin tablet tubes I store them in.

So instead of 30-40 to 20, now 12.... progress.

The other day my brother was at my house for a few hours. He asked if I'd quit smoking and vaping. I just told him it's less of each lately. (Apparently I hadn't done either while he was there.)

Big progress Mike, my problem is something to do type of thing. Having a mod in hand helps this part, plus i enjoy it as well. My nic levels are pretty low to the point its probably worth not even adding any being honest. When i make 150ml of juice at a time, i add around 8ml of nicotine . Its 72% strength....................so its pretty low.

I can smell cig smoke from a mile these days(big nose helps out to lol), but i am so glad to get away from that smell on my clothes. That is one of the biggest pluses for me(other than health/money).

I took note that even though I still smoke, by smoking a lot less I can smell places I had smoked hours before like I had just done it.

No bother though. No different to me than switching to a different cologne. Instead of tobacco smoke it's Hi Karate or something....

Pete, the total lifestyle change is becoming the normal routine. It is much easier to tolerate heat, that's for sure. Right now we are in a period of late summer called "the dog days" due to high humidity day after day. This is the time of year that even the well seasoned become ill from it. A young colleague of mine was whipped at about 3:30 yesterday. The heat was why I smoked a lot less yesterday.

Today, I vaped instead of smoking. Still smoked more than one should, but a lot less. The coworker does not smoke but had drank a couple of gallons of beer the previous date.
I haven't had a beer in years. But I do remember being in Tom's shoes at 3:30, and swearing "never again" then by 7:00 having drank several pints....

I think it was one of Chicagos records just past Michael Jackson's Thriller for all time sales recently. Perhaps I dreamed that?

This week I misbehaved. During the week I did ok. But at my work we had a critical issue addressed. One where a storm drain was diverted. It's a live stream that was being turned from a free flowing stream to being piped for about 75 feet (25m). All kinds of enviro-nazis were looking over our shoulder waiting for us to break some obscure rule. At one end a brick and mortar wall was built to fill in a gap between a square box outlet with a round pipe stuffed inside to become the new inlet. Mortar needs a day or two to cure and become hardened. This needed to become sturdy before it rained. The square box gets loaded fully with water, so when it rains all that water would be trying to get past the gap between square and round. So we did not need it to rain. None was forecast for a few days but...

The contractor completed the last brick and suddenly a thunderstorm popped up. A brief rain.... phew... no issues. It only rained long enough to water dusty dirt.

But at 1am I was awakened by a clap of thunder. Checking my radar I saw a huge storm was dumping on the project. Dratz!!!

I returned to sleep for about 2 more hours. I jumped out of bed early, brushed my teeth, dragged a comb across my hair and headed out to work..... my worst fear was the wall had burst.

The square versus round during...

I get to work to find all was well. The project had received a bunch of rain. Reports are required when this sort of thing happened, yet I was required to stay put at the pipe operation. Nerves were an issue. I vaped and vaped and vaped. But then my favorite device wasn't playing nice with being outdoors in the sunshine while the summer broiler was on max. Ugh!

I ended up smoking a whole pack before lunch break. Yuck!!

Today I'm feeling it too. So first thing this morning my body is saying "screw a stupid cigarette!" ....
Got me a nice combo of sour apple and sweet grape going in a flavor packed tank while I recover from a cigarette hangover. Ended up smoking 2 packs yesterday.

Could be your lungs clearing out as well, all the built up *beep* as your lungs purge and start to repair slowly. Other than that, maybe a high VG juice for waking up with, super smooth(unfortunately cloudy though) Vape to ease the coughing(VG is actually in cough medicine).

So a weekend without a lot on the adgenda has resulted in smoking a lot less than than before. The habit of smoking while idle, typing, thinking etc is slowly going away.

Instead I'm now realizing "hey, I haven't had a cigarette in 3 hours". Meanwhile the nearby vape device sits idle as well.

I used to unconciously puff, puff, puff one after another. Now I just forget to smoke. And I vape at times when I used to smoke also.

Another week of reduction.
Not any progress numbers-wise. As in no great change. Just another week of less.

The little gimmicks such as the 8 pack was continued. But it was a simple matter of self control.

The weather was super muggy so I just didn't want any in the heat. So yeah, the vape device helped some, but was not a replacement. But then again that was never the long term plan.

Over the weekend I bashed my big toe. The foot was real sore with safety shoes on. Between the bruised nail and jammed joint it was interesting at times walking on uneven terrain. I was actually thinking higher nic content would've helped ease the pain. Working near 3 vape shops, I chose not to raise the nic level.

Thinking back some years, when I was contemplating sobriety I remembered I'd rationalize "just one more" when quitting was on my mind. So at times my little 8 pack would go fast as the brain would justify one shortly after one. "What the heck, there's still 6".... 5...
2.... I just didn't do well with that tactic. So at the end of the week, it was still about 50% less than back in say, June.
