VERY pleased with my Inretech white adapter

A few weeks ago I received a white 2AA adaptor from Inretech from their latest batch of luxeons, and installed it in a S&W 2AA light. I used lithium AA's to power it up, and it easily exceeded my expectations! There is a slight greenish tint to the corona, but the center is VERY white, and is brighter...NOTICEABLY brighter than my Ill Pill! I've been running it almost nightly on the same set of lithium AA's since getting it...not very long each night, but still, EVERY night for the last 3 weeks, and it's STILL brighter than my Ill Pill! It has become my hands down favorite luxeon light to date. I don't know if I just got a good draw in the luxeon lotto or what, but I'm extremely pleased with my white Inretech 2AA adaptor. Sometimes Inretech takes a few "lumps" at CPF for taking run-time over regulation, but I've bought 4 AA adaptors from them over the last six months, and they keep getting better! Keep it up, Mike /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

PJD,
Good to hear that the Inretech adaptors are blinding! I was thinking of the Luxeon Red with Lithiums for blackout conditions the next time I "go across the pond". Thanks for the update!

PJD, over the past three weeks how many minutes do you gueestimate you have put on your Inretech white adapter? Bill

I agree with PJD, these drop in's are great. I have a red/org and a white. The R/O is great for use when night vision and lighting a large area are equally important. Plus at $5 ya can't beat it.

BentHeadTX...according to Inretech's site, it says NOT to use lithium AA's in their red adaptor. I think their V output is too high for the forward voltage rating of the emitter. I don't have a red adaptor, but from what I've heard their output on alkalines is excellent!
Bullzeyebill...I probably don't use it for any more than about 10 minutes a night, but for three weeks straight it still has almost 3 hours of use on the same set of lithium AA's, and I've had virtually no reduction in output in that time. I should also add that the lithium AA's that I put in this particular light were not brand new. I took them out of a light that had a cyan adaptor in it with approximately 30 minutes of run time. Like I said, I don't know if I lucked out in the luxeon lotto with this particular adaptor, but I'm extremely pleased. To strengthen the case for Inretech's white adaptors, I purchased another one for a coworker, and his results have been just about identical to mine. Other's mileage may vary /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif...

I ordered a white 2AA awhile ago when their Luxeons were not that good. But there customer service is great and they are getting me a replavement for it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PJD,
Thanks for the info on the lithium cells with the red Luxeon. That would make blackout conditions, truely blacked out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif Was pondering the lights I "need" for the next time, a total of eight of them. Dat2zip BB400 Q3L (general use), Elektrolumens Blaster II (roaming around), 5w 5D Cyan Mag (have it, kicks butt), Arc AAA (keychain), Inova X1 white (mini tool kit light), Inretech red 2AA (blackout), solar recharged "dog tag" white LED (reading and walking in tent) Mini-LGI (lending it out) so that makes 8 lights.
Why did I have to find the CPF?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif It is costing me money for this habit but it makes like much easier. Now to get the X1, Arc AAA, Inretech red and Blaster II so I can sleep better at night.
Gotta catch them all /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Doh! Five bucks...now I have to order 2! Thanks for posting... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif

What I really need to do is have my 2AA white replaced. Very green... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Mike,
True, flashlights are not as expensive as other hobbies. I forgot another Inretech in white for my wife's glovebox. Load that puppy with Lithiums for when she needs it. This might spread the disease as she wants a AAA for the keychain, etc.
I just sent my brother Inretech's website so he can pick up some for camping... Maybe he will get me a Helios for Christmas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif

BentHeadTX,

I do not know what you will be illuminating during a blackout, but if you are going to predominently in near total darkness, you might want to use nearly dead alkalines in your flashlight the first time you try it in the field. If you find you need to put more powerful light out there, go ahead and use fresh alkalines. You might also consider getting both a Luxeon and a Red-Orange spider adapter so you can compare.

If you absolutely must have a lot of red light, please consider our TRILIGHT product with red LEDs. I do ask that you not point this at friends or people with loaded weapons, though. Doing so might strain your friendship or cause a nasty incident.

If you are going to be using nightvision equipment, I would strongly reccomend one of our IR adapters.

As always, we will make vehicle mounted lights upon request.

Patrick,
I will be illuminating walkways and roadways as I make my way around in the night. If I need to dim down the output, I can slap a filter on the front of the light and adjust it that way. The only light in blackout conditions are generally red, blue or green. OK, the moon throws out a bit of light but in general, they don't like white light.
A Trilight would be too much of a good thing, I blasted out my 5 watt Cyan 5D and it was way too much! The other guys use night vision goggles and they like LED lights (as long as it is not the 5w Cyan)
I am contemplating a tent light though, two 1w white Luxeons, two 1w red Luxeons and two red spiders fed by a 6D 3V battery pack for long life. Need some sort of switching to choose white, bright red or dimmer red to select what I need.
The next time I go, I will look like a Christmas tree!

I just got back from a camping trip this weekend. As I noted in a previous post, I had accidentally left my AA minimag with blue Inretech adapter powered on all weekend the week before, and the Lithium AAs in it were pretty weak. So this weekend I popped out the blue and dropped in the Red-Orange adapter, and got another solid weekend of useful light out of it.

It was most indispensable later at night when everyone had turned in; I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. It was pretty effective for spotting them.

As I recall, bug-repellent lights are in yellow - maybe next time I'll try an amber insert. Anyone know if the amber Stars attract/repel insects?

Or does anyone know just what wavelengths of IR mosquitoes are attracted to? I seem to recall that they zero in on IR and CO2 concentrations...

Inverse Square,
Don't hesitate to contact Inretech about getting a replacement. I contacted them and recieved my replacement today. It is about twice as bright as my old one, and is much whiter (my old one was very green and dim).

Insects are attracted to UV light. A white LED should be as good in this regard, as an amber one, since they have little or no UV in their spectrum.

No need! InReTech contacted me proactively and they are taking care of me. I've had good customer service before, but this is the BEST! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif
