Victorian Fires February 2009
Edit: I started posting this as a personal account of what was happening as the fires progressed at home on Saturday and had no way of knowing what a disaster this would become. At the time it was fairly scary for us with the fires just a couple of kilometres away. In retrospect we were very lucky. I'm changing the title to reflect the national disaster this has become. The fires are still burning and people and property are still in danger.
We currently have bush fires burning all around us OK at the moment. Time 15.45 Pictures 1 2 & 3
Embers raining down, more pictures added time 16:00 Pictures 4 & 5
more pictures added time about 16:30 Pictures 6, 7 & 8
It was windy now blowing a gale about 16:43
Temperature at 16:00 peaked at 46.1 C 115 F close enough.
17:40 The wind has dropped and there has been a slight cool change, fires still burning but fortunately not be drive by the 150KPH winds 95 MPH
