Link: Direct bonded XM-L emitter to Copper
Based on the reading of the experiment above I went ahead and mounted the brightest XML-U2 I can find on a thick copper PCB and ran it at 6A. I also used thick wires and good thermal adhesive and the results is stunning! NOTICEABLY BRIGHTER than it was at 4A on aluminum PCB thin wires and poor thermal adhesive. I think I am getting 1500 lumen at turn on. I know the lumen will drop some as the light heats up but boy it is bright at turn on! 🙂
