A lot of those were used by the army as the MX-290/GV.

They use standard 6V lantern batteries.

VERY interesting !

lovecpf

BTW --
Delta Electric (Marion, Indiana)
also made bicycle headlights,
and bicycle electric Horns !

They even made the electric horn
used in 1950's era Lionel diesel locomotives !

Front bulb was a GE # 425,
rated at 5 volts, 500mA, and MSCP 2.3
(mean spherical candlepower).

Therefore, since ONE standard candle
outputs 12.57 Lumens,
we can determine the Front (spotlight)
output was about 30 Lumens.

Much Respect for these fine lanterns,
and the people who used them
to accomplish So many things over the years !

As I understand it these were not "out the front" lumens, but rather the amount of light put out in all directions, though when those big reflectors were new an shiny they probably had a good amount of throw.
