We all see the threads here asking what the best light is for this or that. I thought it may be interesting to change it up a bit and see what CPF'ers think the worst LED flashlights $50 or over are.

Maybe it's a bad design. Maybe it has a huge single flaw. Maybe it's just an ok light that's overpriced. Maybe it's an outdated light that still sells, but is so 2003. Maybe it's an ok light, but you personally have had a horror story with it, or the company's customer service. :)

Vote for the light you think someone would be stupid (or at least uneducated) to buy for $50 or more. Let's make a WORST OF THE WORST list of expensive flashlights here guys! Be sure to list your reasons for nominating.

(this should be very interesting)

I once started a thread about most disappointing light and the moderators closed it. So, I don't know how much luck you'll have with this idea. There's always the underground I suppose.

Why would this not be a valid thread to start? Are CPF'ers not allowed to express disappointment in the flashlight experiences?

Odd.

It's considered poor taste to come and bash a manufacturer, it just leads to bad things, again and again. I can see this being shut down by noon....

Poor taste?

Any manufacturer worth their wait should be happy to see valid critiques of their products. Mature feedback is a goldmine for any business that cares about improving their service or products.

I'm not saying we should flame in this thread, I'm just saying list the flashlights that cost you solid money and ended up being poor, and your reasons why.

Everyone (who's mature enough, and open to feedback) can benefit from this thread by seeing where others went wrong. Manufacturers who really care can read this thread and see what bothers users/buyers. CPF'ers can read this thread and see what pitfalls to look for in expensive flashlights... and what lights to avoid.

I see no poor taste in this thread, unless the people who post to it themselves have poor taste (immature / base-less bashing).

I think suppression of this type of thread does a disservice to all CPF'ers and manufacturers because it implies that CPF'ers aren't mature enough to handle themselves and manufacturers aren't open minded enough to take feedback.

Free and open exchange of information!

Inova should pull the X5 off the market. It's unregulated, plus its dim and wasteful of cells by current standards. A brand with their recognition and trust owes customers more.

Ahh, i see what you're saying yalskey, the problem around here is that it always turns south.

btw...the X5 is an amazing light, built like a tank, even if it's not up to current cree/seoul efficiency.

What usually happens is the fanboys coming out in truckloads immediately after their favourate manufacturer is mentioned and it's all down hill from there.

The Inova X5 is cool. Not the brightest, but good enough for around the house and some outdoor stuff (walking the dog). I dig it. Anyways, it sells for far less then $50.

My vote is the Galls Duty Light. I would not call this light the "bad", however for the money you would spend on it, you can get a more durable, brighter and longer lasting light.

Agreed, I dare someone say McLux PD.... :lolsign:

McLux PD!

I bought one and it was rubbish, I bought another just to make sure that I hadn't got unlucky with a bad one, it was also rubbish. Then I bought one with a deep reflector but it's just too throwy, so I bought one with no reflector at all and man it's just all flood, no good at all. I just picked up another from Bill Laffety and I swear if this one is rubbish also it will be the last McG I ever buy.

:nana::nana::nana:

Didn't we actually have someone say that? Like they bought a handful of McG stuff then hated it and "sold it at a garage sale for five bucks?"

I've always wondered if that was a bullhooey story or not. I mean, not liking something is fine but there's no "point" to be made in reselling at hundreds of dollars of loss.

Yup - I remember that one.

Sorry yalskey fro crashing your thread - but all that talk of maturity combined with PSM's "baiting" :poke:- brings out the worst in a guy!:grin2:

Again - sorry - feel free to get his back OT.:p

My vote is for those CR2 Ions... if they haven't updated the emitter officially by now to something brighter, then they are way overpriced in my opinion... no matter how well they are made.
