Title says it all.
Anyone else interested in this as well?
With all this talk of what these little led's can do and the fact that many people already have a 2 batt aa maglite I figured I would toss the idea out there... I cannot do it my self but if people start replying - well demand normally creates a supply :)
I would think it would not be to hard to do - give instructions on how to gut the head of the unit and install the mod and hey - a good bright led flash light! Its a tried and true flash light and I think it deserves to be brought into the new age of led. Personally I would pay good money for a cool white LS to put into my mag :)
If some one wants to do one up for me - please reply to this post and we will talk it over!

Just a comment..(& observation)
I like your idea, but while the LS diameter nicely matches the inner bezel of the Mag. (just took mine apart for a close look/comparison), two problems-spacewise....
1. BASE of the LS would have to be cut right to the bone, (dia. of the LS itself)..haarrd!
2. The height of the LS (front to back) is also too long-it would interfere with the threads on the inner part of the head-where the barrel screws into it...

p.s. chuckles over emoticon I haven't seen B/4- (, or is that a smilecon with glasses on?

For the threads part - is this even true if you remove the switch portion of the battery casing ?

I realize the the heat sinking would need to be cut back - but the housing of the flashlight should be more then enough to make up for this if they were matched up close and some thermally conductive epoxy or paste was used.

And I have no idea what your talking about: "p.s. chuckles over emoticon I haven't seen B/4- (, or is that a smilecon?"

I always try to disable thoes bandwith hogging little pictures :)

*edit messed up some spelling

Re: room if switching mech. is removed,-yup I checked that too and still can't see enough room. Good luck, though...

p.s.-that emoticon reference I saw was on another thread, not your post

Hmmmm if thats the case I may be a unhappy camper...
Mabe a 3-4 (or more) mod with normal 5mm white nichia led's would be better ?
I could live with that no problem.
Any one up to it ?
I got $$$ :) (flashs cash around lol)

And oh ok to "p.s.-that emoticon reference I saw was on another thread, not yours".

I don't know about the rest of you, but I use  when I'm wearing my glasses, and :) when I'm wearing my contacts. I've done it this way for years and years (although I've only had the ":)" option for the last two).

I have modified a Mag 4-D cell flashlight, putting 20 Nichia white LED's in it, and it is awesome. I modified a 3 D cell flashlight for my wife wit 10 LED's. No resistors, so the Mag light with 4 D cells is running 6 volts, and no problems burning out. I took great care to be sure to heat sink the heat away.
