Ok well its about time for me to add another light to my collection I have 6 different surefires, G3,U2, Kroma, L1 (cree), E1E, and E2D.....I want an M series light from surefire I will have a use fpr this during the summer as I am going to the beach and I like to fly stunt kites I will be ordering a glo-toob to attach to the kites and will need a bit of light to help me roll the lines in, in the dark. Plus walking along the water at night with a high power throwing light should be alot of fun. What are you opinions M3, M4, M6?

Also Can these lights be safely used with other cells other then surefires like battery station 123's or the titanium cells from optics hq? Thanks

I have all 3 and use the High Output bulb in each. At least in the M4 and M6 I would not use anything but SureFire batteries. The M6 HO bulb pulls some VERY high currents. Check the battery forum or a resident expert will be along anytime now to explain the technical stuff.

As to which flashlight, just get the M6. Ebay should be about $310. The M3 is no brighter, to the human eye, than any other SF 9 volt light. The M4 is a great flashlight , but you will always wonder about the brightest (M6) and it does not fit well into any pocket due to it's length.

+1 for the M6, althought I like all the surefire lights!

The M6 is one of those lights that puts a smile on your face everytime you see or hold it! I use the Lumens Factory LO-M3T bulb and get about 2+ hours of runtime. Its one of those lights that I'll never sell, and I just picked up a second M6 (again)....

If you are going to have only one, get the M6. The variety of bulbs and run times make it truly versatile, and there are a few rechargeable options if that is your thing, although I don't find any of the currently available ones all that compelling. SF 123s with an MN15 last well over 2 hrs at a pop.

I have 2 M6s, 2 M4s and an M3T, and an M6 sees the most use, followed closely by a Leef M4gery 2x18650 with and MN20 in it. I find the slim M4 body slips into a back pocket quite well, but be careful you don't snag the head on something and drop the light that way. The M3 seldom leaves the shelf.

For all the different bulb configurations available for the M6, check out this thread.

Yes, I agree with BSBG...if you could only have one light, get the M6. If you could get 3 lights, get 3 M6's. :)

Yes on that suggestion :D and yes on the M6. The M6 is just qualitatively different from the M4/M3/M2 lights. Plus, it's much more flexible. (See the thread abovee.) I've currently got the MN21, MN20, HO-M6R and MN10/Z46 setups for mine. It's hard to beat.

You can also find bodies and tailcaps for purchase later down the road here on CPF. Buy the M6 and you can also use the standard M3 head as well as the KL6 LED head, or buy an LED tower Module for the KT4 turbohead. LOTS of options.

M6.

I got one recently after comparing it side-by-side to an M4. (But not in terms of output).

This is subjective, but the M4 felt out of balance when I gripped it so that I could hit the tailcap switch. I had originally planned on getting an M4. But next to it was an M6 for $50 below retail. Both were brand new.

Hmm.... $330 for an M4 or $349 for an M6? Despite the thick barrel, the M6 was solid in my hand, and felt well-balanced. So I bought the M6 instead, and never regretted it. :)
