Forgive me if this has been stated before, I'm new here, but WHY WON'T SUREFIRE MAKE A G3? Is it that the 9P sold so poorly that they stopped making them (although I think I saw a special release just recently) and that the C3 is not that big of a seller? I love my G2, I think it is the greatest little flashlight ever (remember I am new and haven't quite been sucked into your sick world of must have X, Y or Z light . . . then again in the short time I have been here I think I have convinced myself that an A2 is an absolute must) and I would love to have a G2 slightly longer to take the third battery and a P-90/P-91 lamp option. Even say at twice the price it would be soooooo sweat! I know Surefire realizes this, so why no G3? Sorry for the rant.

I think its possible that prolonged use of a lexan lensed G2(3) head and the HOLA P-91 could lead to problems because of the heat the lamp assembly puts out.

StainlessSteel: Meridian is out of stock on the 9P the last time I checked /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

greenLED: The extender for the G2R is the A14 IIRC. It is a bit longer and will be too long for 3x CR123s. You would need an A19 which is only available in aluminum. I have considered cutting an A14 to length, but I think that would be too much trouble. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

RQC:

I am with you on this. But I think that instead of a G3, they should make a G3Z - a simply extended G2Z. With the Pyrex lens, you would have to worry about heat as much. It would be one kickass combat light with the P91 in there...

We could email Surefire and ask them to make one, citing the demand for a Nitrolon based 3 cell light. As a matter of fact, I'll put my money where my mouth is right now and fire an email off to them.

OT: I will buy both the Nitrolon E2e/E1e if SF make them.

Topper, what would you use as a spacer in the G2 + A14? Would you use another spring or a dummy 1/2 size CR123A? Hmm.. I could always use a back-up for my 9P and D3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lexan can take extreme heat.

Ive melted and deformed the lexan lens on my Z3 and that was only with the standard P90. It can happen.

Yes, people have modded the G2 with the A14(?) extender, the old extender that was used to convert a 3P to a 9P. I think for the P91 they also used the pyrex lens from the G2Z. There are some old threads about it.

I think dano mentioned the return of the 9P, he learned that it was coming back at SHOT 2005.

Pila do the G3... not what you're after?

I plan on looking at Pila in the future, however, as I am still new to the game I still think Surefire is the way to go. My best friend just got a Pila G2R for Christmas from his mother-in-Law (Good mother-in-law eh?) and has been playing with it for a little bit. He likes it for what it is, however, he still says that in all the non scientific test he has done his 60 lume E2E is brighter than the G2R's 80 lumes. I still can't wait to go see him and play with the G2R myself.

That said, I just like the feel of the G2. I also like the fact that I've dropped it, submersed it and have beaten it on two continents and the thing still works perfect and all for $32 (actually, it was free as it was a gift from my best friend). I like it so much I just ordered a second one. My new G2 will have the P-61 lamp in it for around 120 lumes. I can't wait, as someone's tag line around here (I can't remember who) states "life begins at 100 lumes." This is going to be fun. Anyway, that is why I would love a G3. Same body made of nitron, same feel and durability, and over 100 surefire lumes for 50 minutes . . . only if . . . .
