Washer size for McE2s in Z57?

Hello.

OKay, I have a McE2s I want to place into a Z57 cap. I have the main switch unit and plastic Jam nut, but no spacer. I don't want to mod the Jam nut as I will be transplanting this into an Aleph cap once I get one.

I just wanted to know what size spacer or washer can be used with the Z57 tailcap? I will be using a McClicky rubber boot (it's the same as the McE2s boot I believe). When used with the Jam nut, the aluminum retaining ring does not screw in very much. When used with no spacer, it screws in too far...

So I assume some kind of plastic washer should do?

A quick note. I used a rubber 17 mm washer and cut it down, and enlarged the hole. This worked somewhat but the switch tended to bind in the washer.

I then switched to an properly sized o-ring (don't know the size) and it works fine now.

So I have a McE2s in a Z57 that works reasonably well. I think I will get an Aleph cap for better cigar grip and tailstanding, but this will do for now...

Hi Gunga,
Glad you came up with a solution. I am not fresh on the mod you are working on but I do recall that the isolation washers in the SF CR123 batteries served as a spacer in perhaps your mod if not something similar. If you peel the wrapper off the rear of the cell, there is a blue or green plastic washer separating the wrapper from the battery can itself.

Wow! Very cool. I have a couple spent CR123s I can try to scavenge...

Thanks a ton!

The o-ring is doing well at the moment. I think I need to sand the tower a bit to shorten the throw from medium to high. We'll see...

So, how do you stick a McE2s in a Z57?

Also, does this convert a Z57 to a out-and-out twisty, or is it a pressure switch only?

Sorry for not responding earlier. I just dropped the retaining ring into the empty Z57 (be careful of centering) added the stock boot, and (my own mod) added an e-series cap by Oregon shooter. You can use the stock aluminum ring tho.

It is now a 2 stage momentary or twist switch, just like a Surefire L1.
