Nice to know that the current regulated 8x7135 won't have flicker :D Its what I'll be intending to use for my next project.

As for the meter - it might be the wire probes. Didn't really think of it though, but sounds plausible. Thing is, I was able to measure a current flow of 2.8A from a different light (another XML T6 w/ diff. driver) using the same probes. I'll try to retest the whole bunch using similar cells and using thicker wires. Thanks for the ideas guys!

It's not only the probes. When the meter is set on current, it places a resistor between the probes and measures the voltage across the resistor. I've seen them anywhere from 0.01 ohms to 0.1 ohms for high-current scales. My old Fluke bench meter has a 1 ohm resistor, but it can only measure to 2A.
