Hi guys,
This wave is now over and done. Although the SunDrop 3S is not a versatile light, for what it is intended for, I believe it excels. After the dust settles with the present efforts on another wave of Haiku and likely final wave on the LunaSol 20, I plan to revisit the SunDrop 3S and get some more of these in "inventory" for those who decide to give one a try.

Congrats on another successful wave!!! I know this one took a while longer to finish than some of your other waves - and that's obviously due in part to the crappy current environment and in part to the general preference on this board for throw and high power. That said, in many ways this may be your most versatile light.

Like many others, I use my lights most often in the home...to navigate the house without waking others, to find something in a dark closet, etc. For something like this, I agree this light would excel. High CRI flood seems much more useful for many applications than focused cool white light.

I've been on the fence for a long time...I just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on this one (mainly because I spent too much on lights last year, then got distracted by the awful economic environment including some personal items like my employer going bankrupt, etc.) I was a bit unhappy to see this finally sell out because at the back of my mind I knew this was probably the perfect light for me. I hope someday you revisit this light as you mentioned above - and maybe by then the high CRI 183 you mentioned above will be available.

Thanks especially for being such a positive development on the flashlight community - your willingness to try something other than making the next high powered ultra thrower is appreciated!

is it possible to get a circuit board for the 1S to convert it to 3S?
I looked in at the sandwich shoppe, but they only have a GDuP that goes up until 700mAh which is tooo much IIRC?

You know, that is really well said. Don has always led the effort to push the envelope and create customs unlike we have ever seen before. The fact that he envisioned a high CRI light is testament to his ingenuity. I must agree: Don, thank you for continuing to create quality customs with a different concept in mind each time. :twothumbs

Hi AlecGold,

At best and when available, I am a customer for these converters but not a supplier or reseller; I leave that to those who make them. The Nichia 083 is a 350 mA max part so yes, you would need to get a GDuP resistored for lower current if you go that route.

Thanks for the fast response! I'll get a mail out to the sandwich shoppe and look what they can do (or can't) and go from there.
I wasn't trying to order them from you, but just wanted to be sure that the 350 mA is a maximum I shouldn't overclock.
