Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights-ended

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

I should be getting a first article from the machine shop in the next week or so and a converter in development that will work off a single AA. It's still vapor but I anticipate some condensation.
That's good news Don. Even though I am perfectly happy running off CR123 platform, I am still interested in the AA platform.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Don, I would like one. What is the brighteset 1xrcr123 light you make?

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

What does the BB mean?
What is different about the Haiku XP-G and the BB Haiku XP-G
And is the XM-L better or newer? Sorry to ask so many Q's I just dont know anything about these.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

BB, is bead blasted. It's the finish on the light.

XM-L is a newer, more efficient die, but it is also much larger than the XP-G, so it tends toward a floodier beam with less throw. There are some good beamshots floating around this forum. I think there is links in js' Haiku sticky up here.

Just add on to what nbp has said.

If you want a light that allows you to see a little further then get the XP-G Haiku. I chose the XM-L because I always like a flood light for close range use which is about what I need a light for most of the time. Despite it being floody I have no problems making out details up to about 30 or 40 feet in darkness with no other light source. What I like about the XM-L version is that the beam is so smooth from main beam to side spill that there is hardly much of a hot spot. There is, but not as obvious as you would probably see with an XP-G in there.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Hi guys,
Serves me right for mentioning the AA pak while it was in vapor form as it is still vapor and unexpectedly so. The machine shop is in catch up mode due to a major refit of one of their CNC machines and a first article, proof of concept prototype is no doubt a low priority when others are demanding delivery on large production orders. (I am not a large customer of theirs but I too have had to wait for production parts and they are more important to me than the prototype and especially when the single cell converter is still in vapor mode). For what it's worth, I still have eery intention of seeing this through though.

But the main reason I am posting here is to alert you to the change in status of the Haiku XP-G light which I have also now mentioned in the first post of this thread. This wave is now over.

Obviously this is something that could be revisited later down the road but for now I am out of the MCPCB's I need for a XP-G light engine and even if I decided today that I wanted to continue with the wave I would be looking at probably 6 weeks before I could build the next Haiku XP-G.

The few requests I get anymore for a Haiku XP-G do not warrant the investment and time at this point involved in getting back in a position to offer these again. Sorry!!

:mecry:

Glad I got one of these while they were available, my favorite EDC carry light ever!

I better get a Haiku XM-L while they're still available. :naughty:
