Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Hi guys,
I received a partial shipment of the titanium heads so this wave is now on again. Sorry for the disruption. 😱

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Do they come avaiable in the new warm XP-G led? 😗

GJR

I got away from the added inventory nightmare of tint options a few years back and certainly hope to be able to stay away from it! This is especially true now when sales are relatively soft and inventory of obsolete or undesired components is growing. :green:

I recently built a warm Haiku XP-G for a member who provided the LED himself. I was curious about its performance as well and willing to go the extra effort of an isolated and individual LE build. The tint was warmer than what I am presently building with but the CRI was not great and there was the expense in flux as indicated by the R2 versus R5 designation of the respective parts. Beyond white wall comparisons of multiple light sources, I find it hard to believe that one of these lights would perform better at illumination that the other if it were used solo and in real world applications. Perhaps I am wrong though.

This will seem like an attempt to 'butter up' Don, but it is far from it. In the quest/obsession/disease that is flashlight collecting, I've tried more lights than I am willing to list here. Others have tried more, I'm sure. My 'proving ground' is a 4:45 AM, pitch dark walk with my dogs almost every day...northern Virginia has been "built out" for a long time, and wildlife has returned to the wooded areas - even neighborhoods - with deer, foxes, etc. My lights are vital for a number of reasons, so it isn't all about collecting (except for when you have 4 of the same light..:ohgeez::crazy:). I need to see the critters when my dogs go totally nuts so I know what is lurking in the dark!

EVERY time I try new lights, it is fun - but then I compare them to the Haiku XP-G, and the utility and quality of the Haiku XP-G stand above the crowd. It's as close to perfect as I have found.

I was fortunate to find a warm XP-G and had it installed in my Ti PD. it is great, but it looks like a Haiku XR-E!! So my point is, if someone wants a warmer Haiku, I would recommend that they buy the XR-E version. Next to the XP-G version, it is still my favorite light, and has a beautiful, slightly warmer beam.

Just my $.02

"Warm" covers only one aspect IMHO, and this is purely subjective. CRI on the other hand, is highly desirable. If the "warm" emitters don't offer CRI but suffer in brightness we do pay a high price.

With the SunDrop we getr high CRI, and that does make a difference that is worth sacrificing some lumens.

All IMHO of course.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

I just received my Haiku XP-G AA2 and I don't have another light to compare it to that would be fair so all I can go by is what I see, and I see everything close and 100 feet away this light will do everything and then some. Mine is longer than the single cells but for me that works better I love this light and for a utility light there is none better. Thanks Don it was a pleasure talking with you. Per-Sev
