Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Hi guys,
I received a small lot of XP-G LED's which are of the R4 flux bin as well as warm (~4000 CCT) tint. I hope this doesn't add too much confusion to my already confusing offerings! :green:

At any rate, for those wishing to get a Haiku XP-G in a warmer version, this is now available at the same price but please add the word "warm" in the subject line of your order request.

I.E. Haiku XP-G Warm

Now I consider these LED's to be warm relative to the LED's I use by default but perhaps the better term is neutral?!? I refuse to get involved in the subjective evaluation and qualification of tints!

Don, it's pretty simple - "if you build it, I will come"...email sent for one Haiku XP-G Warm!! Oy - my 5th Haiku, but I can't resist this warm tint version! Great to see you offering up something like this!

 You are correct!

I am super excited about another BB Haiku XP-G... this time it will be in a warmer tint! 😀

While I really preffer to speak in terms of Kelvin about tints of LEDs, it would be interesting to know however, which tint it is for Cree?

What can be read out of 3, 4, 5 and A/B/C/D is whether it is more to the yellowish or the reddish side of the color spectrum.

I bet these Haikus are very interesting for those who want to try something else, the warmer XP-G have now become very bright emitters and the beam of the Haiku XP-G is fantastic...

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Let me assure you that the warm XP-G is very, very nice.
If I can figure out how to post a photo I will show a beam shot comparing it to the PD-S if it is okay with Don.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Henk Lu,
In my notes, these LED's are R4 5B1 tint. Hope that helps.

protodoc,
Feel free to post what you will. They're your lights and you can do what you want with them. 🙂 Thanks for asking.

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Nice looking tint!

Could I ask if the beamshot is a comparison between the Haiku XP-G Wam and the LS20?

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Sorry, I should have made this more clear: The left beam is the Haiku XP-G Warm and the right beam is a Ti PD-S.

Don,

Of course that helps, here's a graph (which I borrowed...) of the different tints for the XP-G emitter :

5000k.jpg

5B1 lies on the yellowish side of the color pattern, for me personnally it's nicer than 5A1, which is more on the reddish side, the beamshot from protodoc confirms the 5B1 somehow (you must see a tint to really know). Your cool white emitter should be an 1A, not, that I see that switching on my light, but because they normally are...

The best has just become better with this option! Where's my budget when I need it??? :ohgeez:

Henk_Lu and protodoc - thank you for posting this information and photos! Very helpful and enlightening...😱

I just ordered the new Warm XPG from Don and sold my original XPG - this information confirms that this was a good choice for my preferences. When mine arrives, I'll do some detailed white wall tests and post them.

Again, thank you both! And thanks to Don for offering this option! :twothumbs:twothumbs

I have been researching a lot on "warmer" emitters and am testing out which tints I like best. It's very difficult to say, but I definetely like them warmer than the usual cool white.

I got one XP-G 5000K (3C as it was advertised), that can be qualified as "slightly warmer as cool white", I would trade all my cool white XP for that one. 5B(1) is the traditionnal "neutral white", a big difference to the cool white already and I also got 7B4 which are classified as warm whites, that's 3000K and like Incans, something different.

Resistance is futile here, I MUST have a warm Haiku, but I must wait until my next budget arrives as well.

Many flashaholics go for the warmer tints, while the cool whites are preffered by most people. The XP-G will show now, if they were only preffered because they were much brighter (With XR-E and XP-E we had R2 in cool white, mostly Q3 in neutral white) or if people really like unnatural looking cool light better than more natural looking warmer light.

I'm still unshure whether I shall sell my Haiku XP-G or not... :broke:

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

I agree with your statements, Henk_lu...and I made that fateful decision to sell my XPG to help with the funding of this new XPG Warm. Of course, I have a shelf queen stock Haiku XPG so....

Before I shipped it, I wanted to do some comparisons and they are interesting. If you want to see this, please visit this link

Thanks! :party::wave:

Re: Wave of Ti Haiku XP-G flashlights

Thanks for the beamshots run4jc! It's nice to see good photos comparing these lights. So many great options from Don and I have already blown my flashlight budget for the year!
