This is not a review, just a comment. Tried out the new Wolf Eyes M100 Rattlesnake with its big reflector and original 9V 200 lumens lamp. (for 2x 18650 cells) This unit is focusable from wide to a tight spot. I was pleasantly surprised when I lit up a tree top about 80 to 100 yards/meters away in the reserve next to us. The beam was very narrow and the centre had more than enough brightness to illuminate any critters in the branches.....My eyes are not good enough to see at that distance at night, even with plenty of light.

Imagine if you could get a 400 lumen lamp for this outfit, it would be hard to beat in the throw department.......Perhaps another possible project for Lumens Factory?

It is possible indeed, Glen from Quarterflash was discussing with me the other day about this.

Definately a lot of potential since it has a big head and uses 18650s, very "incan friendly".

Max we could do is a 630 Lumens lamp on that setup, possibly a HO 450 Lumens and a EO at around 600 Lumens. We are still speculating on the market at the moment, so any comments from you guys would be helpful.

Cheers,

Excellent news Mark, you are right, in the 2x 18650 format, this light has the potential to be one of the better throwers on CPF, both stock standard and custom. As I said, even with the standard WE lamp the reflector works perfectly and utilizes the 200 lumens to maximum effect. If you could provide a 400 and 600 lumen lamps, this light would be hard to beat as an incan thrower.

Don't forget about the WE M300 Lion! 3X18650 with a big reflector as well.

Only thing to be aware of was brought up in another WE thread the other day. The older M100s are built differently than the current ones. I don't know however if that means that you can't have one LA for both new and old versions. Might want to check with a WE dealer. I only have the older style so can't compare.

Yes, I believe that in the older M100's the lamp screwed into the bezel unit and then the whole thing screwed onto the body......whereas in the new M100's the lamp screws into the body and then the bezel screws onto the whole thing, in this case allowing some focusability from spot to flood.

Lunal Tic, you are correct. The new M100 (which has a much nicer reflector) utilises a lamp with dual springs and screws into the body of the flashlight. This also gives the ability for focus adjustment.

The previous model had a single spring and the bulb screwed into the turbohead.

An older head could be used on either an old or new body, a new head can only be utilised on a new body due to the threading in the new body. Hope that helps.

Thanks Lunal Tic for posting the photos, I can vouch for my photo on the right of the new but you must have a different "old" M100 to what I do. Below is a photo of the lamp from my M100, note the thread on the front where it screws into the turbo head. This seems substantially different to yours, I was unaware there was two old versions, might be worth posting how old your is so we can get to the bottom of this and no one gets the wrong lamp.

One of my spares says 04/2003. I can go through the rest if you would like.

No Need, Lunal Tic, will check with the factory how many versions there were so we don't confuse people. Thanks
